Layer-by-layer coating apparatus and method
Apparatus and method useful for, among other things, providing a layer by layer coating of materials on a substrate.
MULTI-PURPOSE ACID-ETCHED METALLIC STAMPS AND DIES
A metallic stamp and die for the craft industry comprises a predetermined acid-etched design on a surface of a metallic plate. A first layer of a metallic paint is applied over the front and back surfaces of the metallic stamp and die. A second layer of a rubber paint is applied over the metallic paint. The metallic paint facilitates bonding of the rubber paint to the metallic plate and increases the life of the coating of the rubber paint. The rubber paint is configured to absorb and store an ink and facilitate transfer of the ink to one or more substrates, thus enabling stamping of the design on the substrate. The metallic die can be configured for a plurality of uses, such as embossing, cutting, heat-foiling, stamping, scoring, and inserting patterns or designs in a plurality of substrates.
Low-cost device and method for measuring radar transmission and reflectance of coated articles
Low-cost devices for measuring radar transmission and/or reflectance of coated articles are provided. An exemplary low-cost radar transmission and reflection measurement device includes a radar transmitter that emits a radar signal, a radar target to which the radar signal is directed, and a radar receiver that receives the radar signal. Further, the exemplary low-cost device includes a sample holder located between the radar transmitter and the radar target and between the radar target and the radar receiver. The sample holder receives a sample including a coating. The low-cost device also includes a controller connected to the radar transmitter and radar receiver. The controller measures a radar signal loss due to the coating.
NON-ABLATIVE MULTI-LAYER COATINGS FOR BOAT AND MARINA STRUCTURES THAT PREVENT WATER-DERIVED DAMAGE, CORROSION, AND DETERIORATION FROM BIOLOGICAL CHEMICAL PROCESSES
Methods of protecting a submerged surface include applying an adhesion-promoting layer onto a surface. An inner polymer layer is applied onto the adhesion-promoting layer. The inner polymer layer is impregnated with a biologically active chemical substance that inhibits biofouling-induced chemical, biological, and bio-proliferative damage. An outer polymer layer is applied onto the inner polymer layer. The outer polymer layer is impregnated with a biologically active chemical substance that inhibits biofouling-induced chemical, biological, and bio-proliferative damage and that repels biofouling organisms to prevent invasion of the inner polymer layer.
WOOD ARTICLE AND PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE WOOD ARTICLE
The present disclosure relates to a wood article and a process for preparing the wood article. In particular, the present disclosure relates to a wood article comprising a wood substrate comprising acidic substances and having at least one major surface; a sealing coating applied on the major surface of the wood substrate; and a Michael Addition curing coating applied on the sealing coating, wherein the sealing coating is formed by a sealing agent comprising one or more chosen from an aqueous latex of polyurethane acrylics polymer, an aqueous latex of carboxyl functional self-crosslinkable acrylics polymer, an aqueous latex of cationic acrylics polymer, an aqueous latex of polyvinyl acetate and a two-component polyurethane coating system; and wherein the Michael Addition curing coating is formed from a two-component curable coating composition.
Vehicle body part and method of forming a vehicle body part
A vehicle body part including a support, an uncured sealer and an uncured primer, the uncured sealer being interposed between the support and the uncured primer, the uncured sealer and the uncured primer each including a compatible solvent, each compatible solvent having a log P.sub.ow value and an absolute value of a difference between the log P.sub.ow value of the compatible solvent of the uncured primer and the compatible solvent of the uncured sealer being equal to or smaller than 3.0. A method of forming a finished vehicle body part.
Metal oxide nanoparticle-based T1-T2 dual-mode magnetic resonance imaging contrast agent
The present invention relates to a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agent, particularly a metal oxide nanoparticle-based T1-T2 dual-mode MRI contrast agent that can be used not only as a T1 MRI contrast agent but also as a T2 MRI contrast agent, and a method for producing the same. The metal oxide nanoparticle-based T1-T2 dual-mode MRI contrast agent can provide more accurate and detailed information associated with disease than single MRI contrast agent by the beneficial contrast effects in both T1 imaging with high tissue resolution and T2 imaging with high feasibility on detection of a lesion.
METHOD FOR PREPARING AND TOP COATING A POWDER COATED WOOD SUBSTRATE
The invention includes a method for preparing and top coating an item made of powder coated MDF (or other substrate containing wood) with the end result of improved visual and tactile smoothness; the invention includes the steps of cutting and machining the part, pre-powder preparation and sanding of the part, powder coating the part, post-powder preparation and sanding, and applying the liquid top coat to the part, resulting in a smoother finish than is currently available in any other powder coated MDF finish while requiring less coats than similar liquid paint finishes.
Hydrophilic, multifunctional ultra-thin coatings with excellent stability and durability
The present invention relates to hydrophilic, multi-functional ultra-thin coatings deposited onto substrates for different applications, with excellent performance in terms of stability and durability. The present invention also describes improved methods to deposit the hydrophilic, multi-functional ultra-thin coatings of the present invention. The coatings are deposited by means of a low pressure and low power plasma polymerization. The present invention also comprises substrates coated with a method and a coating according as described in the present invention.
Increasing anti-corrosion through nanocomposite materials
A method of increasing corrosion resistance without leveraging toxic hexavalent chromium uses partially oxidized graphene particles mixed into primer applied on metallic alloy surfaces. Graphene is effective as an anti-corrosion primer additive because it acts as a physical barrier and has electrochemical properties that change potentials needed to induce corrosion.
