Method and device for processing solid waste
11033940 · 2021-06-15 · ·

Organic waste is polished to remove floatable contaminants prior to being biologically treated. In one application, pressed organic waste is polished before being sent to a wet anaerobic digester, optionally to be co-digested with wastewater treatment plant sludge. The organic waste is polished by flinging globs of the organic waste against a screen (3,4) while flowing air across the flinging globs. The polishing can be performed in a device having a rotor (6) with discrete paddles (9,10) inside of a cylindrical screen (2,3,4).

Automated, self-cleaning filter

A self-cleaning, automated apparatus with a filter for fluids includes a nozzle unit assembly that has a first tube inside a second tube. Each of the tubes has a different pattern of one or more slots or holes. One tube rotates while the other is fixed, so that part of the pattern of one coincides with the other at times, resulting in a jet of cleaning fluid that removes debris from a filter. The filter is rotated so the jet can reach all parts to be cleaned. The pattern of the rotating tube may approximate a helix and the pattern of the fixed tube may approximate a line.

System and method for estimating damage to a shaker table screen using computer vision

A system for cleaning, repairing, and/or replacing damaged shaker screens is disclosed. The system may comprise a shale shaker with a replaceable shaker screen, at least one camera, and a computer processor. The camera is positioned to capture images of the shale shaker screen and the processor is capable of receiving said images from the camera. The processor is configured to analyze the images and detect damaged regions of the shale shaker screen. The processor is also configured to determine when a screen is damaged above a pre-defined threshold. Certain embodiments allow for the automatic cleaning, repair, and/or replacement of the shaker screen.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SEPARATING DRILL CUTTINGS FROM DRILL MUD
20200378200 · 2020-12-03 ·

An apparatus for separating particles, such as drill cuttings, from a flowable substance, such as drilling mud, is provided. The apparatus comprises an inlet for entry of particles combined with the flowable substance; an outlet for exit of particles separated from the flowable substance; a movable screen located between the inlet and the outlet; and a wash unit for delivering a wash agent to the particles. The screen allows for passage of the flowable substance therethrough, and defines a path for passage of the particles between the inlet and the outlet. Delivery of the wash agent to the particles assists with separation of the particles from the flowable substance. Associated systems and methods are also provided.

SIEVING APPARATUSES FOR PUPAE SEPARATION
20200352146 · 2020-11-12 · ·

A sieving apparatus for separating insect pupa is described. In an example, the sieving apparatus includes a sieving device attached to an actuation system. The sieving device includes a set of openings sized to correspond to a cross-sectional cephalothorax width of a representative pupa of a population of insect pupae to be separated. The actuation system is configured to move the sieving device in a manner that causes smaller insect pupae to pass through the set of openings. Larger insect pupae remain within the sieving device. Such movement can include moving the sieving device with respect to a liquid held in a basin of the sieving apparatus.

Stucco paper screen assembly

A screen assembly includes a housing defining a material flow chamber and having an inlet end and an outlet end, and a stucco discharge opening being located in the chamber between the inlet end and the outlet end. An auger shaft is located in the housing for axial rotation and having at least one first helical flight arranged in a flight pattern oriented so that material engaging the first helical flight is conveyed from the inlet end to the outlet end. A screen surrounds the at least one first helical flight for common rotation and extends generally from the inlet end to the outlet end. At least one second helical flight is disposed on an exterior surface of the screen and is arranged in a flight pattern oriented so that material engaging the second helical flight is conveyed in a direction from the outlet end.
