An apparatus for rolling strip having a periodically fluctuating strip thickness has a roll stand with a set of rollers defining a gap, an adjustment actuator for adjusting the gap of the set of rollers, unwinder for feeding the strip with an initial thickness to an intake side of the roller gap, winder for receiving the strip with a desired final thickness from an output side of the gap, respective upstream and roller assemblies each having an immersion roller provided upstream of the roll stand between the unwinder and the roll stand and downstream of the roll stand between the roll stand and the winder. The strip is guided around the immersion rollers. A controller sets positions of the immersion rollers while operating the rollers of the roll stand at a constant roller speed, for determining the roller gap in dependence on the setting of the rollers.

A method for the stepped rolling of a metal strip unwinds the metal strip by a feed reel device and winds-up the metal strip by a winding reel device. The metal strip is guided through a roller gap formed between two working rollers during the rolling process, and the roller gap is changed in a controlled manner during the rolling process, whereby a thickness of the metal strip is changed in steps in the longitudinal direction during the rolling process. Tension applied to the metal strip is controlled such that the rolling force applied to the metal strip by the working rollers is constant during the rolling process.

Rolling taking frequency behavior into account

A roll stand of a rolling mill is supplied with a metal strip by an upstream supply device at an in-feed speed (v), with said metal strip being rolled in the roll stand. A measuring device between the supply device and the roll stand detects a respective thickness value (d) of the metal strip for consecutive sections of the metal strip and supplies said value to a control device of the rolling mill. The control device determines final thickness deviations based on the preliminary thickness deviations. The control device determines a respective control value (A2, A3) for the roll stand and/or the supply device for the sections of the metal strip based on the final thickness deviation of the respective section of the metal strip and the final thickness deviations of multiple preceding and/or subsequent sections of the metal strip.
