STEELPAN MUSICAL INSTRUMENT HYDROFORMING PRESS
20200001343 · 2020-01-02 ·

A machine can form a work piece into a bowl subcomponent of a steel pan musical instrument. The machine includes a pressure lid and a die mold. The die mold may be formed of non-metal layers stacked between metal layers. In example operation, a blank or work piece is inserted between the lid and die mold. The lid is pressed down (e.g., by a hydraulic ram), forcing a portion of the blank into a face groove of the die mold for sealing. Pressurized water or other fluid introduced between the lid and the blank exerts pressure on the sealed portion of the blank and stretches the blank to conform to a bowl shape of the die mold. Note regions can be introduced by this machine-performed shaping and/or by subsequent manual operations to further prepare the work piece for incorporation into a steel pan musical instrument.

METHOD FOR DETERMINING A PRESSURE DISTRIBUTION OF A MOLDING TOOL DEVICE AS WELL AS RESHAPING APPARATUS AND COMPOSITE SHEET METAL COMPONENT

A method is provided for determining a pressure distribution of a molding tool device (1) for reshaping a sheet metal component (2). The pressure distribution represents a load on the sheet metal component (2) caused by reshaping in the molding tool device (1). The method includes introducing a piezoelectric material (3) into a raw material (12) of the sheet metal component (2) to form a composite sheet metal component (4) that provides an electrical voltage under mechanical loads. The method proceeds by arranging the composite sheet metal component (4) in the molding tool device (1) and reshaping the composite sheet metal component (4) with the molding tool device (1). The method then uses at least one sensor device (5) for detecting spatially resolved electric voltage signals that emanate from the composite sheet metal component (4) during the reshaping and determining the pressure distribution using the detected spatially resolved voltage signals.

Manufacturing method for a titanium heat exchanger

A manufacturing method for a plate comprising channels in which the method includes a step of superposing the two strips, a step of welding the two strips along the weld seams, a step of blocking the zones between the weld seams on one side of the strips, a pressurization step with a compressed fluid, where the zones between the weld seams open out along another side, to expand the strips, and a step of opening the zones blocked during the blocking step. This manufacturing method enables the titanium strips to be welded together and shaped by pressurization.

A method and a device for manufacturing a part starting from a cushion made of deformable material, in particular for an edge of an element of an aircraft. The device includes a preparation unit to create a cushion with two plates and, between the plates, an internal space with an opening, and a molding unit comprising a mold in which the cushion is positioned, the mold comprising two shells and an imprint corresponding to the shape of the part to be manufactured, the molding unit configured to inject a pressurized fluid into the internal space of the cushion through the opening to deform the cushion such that it matches the imprint and forms the part, the device being capable of manufacturing one-piece parts of various sizes, and in particular parts having complex shapes, in particular non-developable shapes.

High speed blow forming processes

A method of forming a part includes: inserting a blank into a die, the die comprising a mold mounted above a sealing counterpart; clamping the blank between the mold and the sealing counterpart; applying first pressure on the blank from the sealing counterpart so the blank is pressed upward to form a shaped part corresponding to the mold; applying a vacuum to the shaped part to hold it against the mold also after separating the mold and the sealing counterpart, the vacuum applied through at least one opening in the mold located in a corner of the mold that the blank does not reach when the first pressure is applied; and discontinuing the vacuum to allow the shaped part to be released from the mold.
