Can end produced from downgauged blank
A can end for a two-piece beverage container has a curl positioned about a longitudinal axis which defines an outer perimeter of the can end. A circumferential wall angles downwardly and radially inwardly relative to a radially inner portion of the curl. A strengthening member extends radially inwardly relative to the circumferential wall. A center panel extends radially outwardly from the longitudinal axis towards the strengthening member and has a diameter greater than 87.7% of an overall diameter of the can end. A frangible score and a hinge portion define an openable tear panel in the center panel. A stay-on tab is attached to the center panel and has a nose portion overlying the tear panel opposite a lift end of the tab.
Method of manufacturing an improved disposable lid
In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, there is provided an improved disposable aluminum lids configured to have a slight tapering between the raised ridge and the downwardly extending skirt, and further configured to have a rolled lip formed around the entire periphery of the downwardly extending skirt, which includes both the sides and the corners of the improved disposable aluminum lid. The improved disposable aluminum lid is manufactured to prevent cuts and injury to the consumer and allow for proper nested of multiple lids for shipping and storage.

CAN END
A can end (10) has a curl (14) extending circumferentially about a longitudinal axis (50). A circumferential wall (15) extends downwardly. A strengthening member (16) is joined to lower segment of the circumferential wall (15). A center panel (12) extends radially inwardly from the circumferential strengthening member (16). A rivet (38) attaches a tab (28) to the center panel (12). A cover is attached to the tab (28) and is rotation therewith. A frangible score (24) in the center panel (12) is breakable to form a pour opening (27) in the center panel (12). The cover is rotatable to overlay the pour opening (27) and effectively reclose the pour opening (27) in a reclosed condition of the can end (10).
Ink jet printing on a metal can substrate
A method for forming a beverage can end (34a) having ink jet markings (50a) on its tab (36a) comprises a step of applying ink via an ink jet to a surface of tab stock, wherein the tab stock surface is unlubricated and substantially free of factory lubricant. The method further includes a step of lubricating the tab stock after the step of applying ink, a step of forming the tab stock into tabs, and a step of combining the tabs with an end shell to from the beverage can end.

APPARATUS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF TEAR-OFF LIDS
An apparatus (1) for the production of tear-off lids (27), in which a tear-off film (24) is sealed or glued onto the upper side thereof on a sealing surface (18) arranged around a removal opening (17). The apparatus includes a conveying device (13) for lid blanks (9), lid rings (8), and tear-off lids (27), as well as processing stations (14, 19, 21, 25, 26, 29) which are provided in succession in the conveying direction for processing the lid blanks (9), lid rings (8), and tear-off lids (27) and form a processing zone of the apparatus (1) extending in the conveying direction. At least some of the processing stations (14, 19, 21, 25, 26, 29) have lifting tables (5) for receiving lower machining tools which, in the intended operation of the apparatus (1), execute an intermittent upward and downward movement along lifting table guides (6) and, in doing so, work with the lower machining tools from below against associated upper machining tools which are supported on stationary yokes (4). According to the disclosure, the lifting table guides (6) are arranged in an area adjacent to the processing zone of the apparatus, as seen in the conveying direction, on exactly one of the two sides of the processing zone. This leaves the area on the other side of the processing zone largely unobstructed and provides excellent accessibility to the processing zone for inspection purposes and maintenance work.
REVERSE PRESSURE CAN END
A can end includes a center panel, an annular portion disposed about the center panel, a chuck wall disposed about the annular portion, a curl extending radially outwardly from the chuck wall, the annular portion including a subsurface step.
Method for producing a lid with closure
The invention relates to a method with the following steps: provision of a lid panel with a pouring opening and at least one guide opening, preferably with two guide openings; bringing together of an inner slide piece and a side of the lid panel that is provided as container inner face; bringing together of an outer slide piece and a side of the lid panel that is provided as a container outer face; connection of the inner with the outer slide piece via at least one connection element arranged at least partially in the at least one guide opening; bringing together a closure element and the side of the lid panel that is provided as a container inner face with the inner slide piece; and producing a coupling between the closure element and the inner slide piece.
