The invention relates to a riveting tool for setting blind rivet nuts and/or blind rivet screws, comprising a drive piston which is able to be hydraulically adjusted from an initial position toward an end position, a pull rod which is releasably and operatively connected to the drive piston and which is able to be adjusted by the drive piston from a rivet receiving position into a setting position and a coupling element fixing the pull rod and a drawing mandrel to one another in the longitudinal axial direction. In order to provide a riveting tool of the type mentioned above by which uniform setting processes of rivets may be carried out with a high degree of repeated accuracy, it is provided that the riveting tool for fixing the setting position has an adjusting unit with a stroke-limiting element which is axially adjustable relative to the coupling element in the longitudinal axial direction of the pull rod, said stroke-limiting element being in engagement with the coupling element via a stop surface in the setting position.

The present invention discloses a one-hand-handled rivet gun, which has a handle seat with a through hole, a folding mechanism hinged to the handle seat and a pulling rod connected to the folding mechanism. The mentioned pulling rod is coated by a housing, and is equipped with a riveting gun tip assembly on the front end. A fixed sleeve is mounted on the front end of the housing of the pulling rod, and a guiding nipple is mounted on the front end of the fixed sleeve. The mentioned folding mechanism comprises two folding rod assemblies symmetrically mounted behind both sides of the rear end of the pulling rod, and the two folding rod assemblies include a front curved link and rear curved link hinged to each other. A handle cover is connected to the rear end of the rear curved link, and the front curved link is fixed to the pulling rod by the front end and hinged to the front end of the handle seat. Therefore, the invented one-hand-handled rivet gun can be used with only one hand, which is easy for people to use.

A tooling installation system having unique tools which provide an external force directly to the sleeve end of a faster to create a bulb on the sleeve of the fastener is provided. The system provides external forces directly to the sleeve end of the fastener deforming a portion of the sleeve radially outward and onto the structure prior to swaging a second portion of the sleeve radially inward onto the pin. Additionally, the system controls formation of the sleeve by capturing an external portion of the sleeve creating a cavity between the tool and the structure for achieving proper bulb formation during installation prior to swage. The system also provides specific forces to the head of the pin and the head of the sleeve to insure proper seating of the fastener head against the structure inducing residual compressive stresses within the structure, thus improving mechanical properties such as fatigue life of the structure.

System and method for drilling holes and installing fasteners in vehicle structures

A system and method for drilling a hole in a vehicle structure and installing a fastener in the hole. A drill plate having openings and associated machine-readable elements is positioned on the structure. A drill gun is positioned in a particular opening and reads hole information from the associated element, and a computer determines whether the drill gun is properly set-up to drill the hole. A fastener insertion gun is positioned in the particular opening and reads fastener information from the element, and the computer determines whether the hole has been drilled and, if so, whether the fastener insertion gun is properly set-up to insert the fastener. A fastener delivery subsystem stores, tracks, and delivers fasteners to the fastener insertion gun. A system computer monitors the drilling of every hole, the insertion of every fastener, and the overall operation of the fastener delivery subsystem.
