The control unit and the shut-off valve are configured, after completing a filling phase in a subsequent refilling phase firstly to bring the shut-off valve into an open position and to control the casting piston to move back into the casting start position, in order to supply the casting chamber with melt material via the melt inlet channel, and to control the shut-off valve into its closed position again before the casting piston has reached its casting start position by virtue of its return movement, and to control the casting piston to back-suction melt material in the melt outlet channel by virtue of the further return movement of the casting piston.

A process of forming an erosion, oxidation, and wear resistant shot chamber, either a gooseneck or a shot sleeve, is provided. The process utilizes a self-healing erosive wear resistant coating on a liner of refractory metal to serve as the working surfaces of a shot chamber. Such a shot chamber is expected to have an improved service life for die casting of corrosive metals and alloys, including hot chamber die casting of aluminum alloys. An improved hot dipping process using stirring in the motel metal bath is also disclosed.

A casting device for operating stably while suppressing leakage from a gap between a tip and a sleeve is disclosed. The casting device includes: a sliding member in the center of which a rod slides, and in which a gap is formed between the rod and the sleeve; a seal member arranged at an outer periphery of the sliding member; and a suction device for suctioning air inside the sleeve. When the seal member is positioned in a center section closer to a cavity than a pouring hole, and the air in a space between the sliding member and the tip is suctioned, the seal member assumes a first state in which the seal member adheres to the center section, and in the first state, the tip advances toward the cavity.
