MOLDING TOOL FOR MOLTEN METAL OR GLASS

A molding tool made of carbon or graphite, namely a casting mold or a casting core for the processing of molten metal or to a molding tool for the processing of molten glass, such as for example a blow mold and a method for producing the molding tool.

Wired pipe coupler connector

A wired pipe segment includes a body extending from a box end to a pin end and a coupler located in one of the box and pin ends. The coupler includes a carrier having at least one electrical component disposed therein and one or more antennas supported by and spaced from the carrier and being electrically coupled to the carrier through at least one of the electrical components, the antennas being formed in the carrier in a same molding machine. The segment also includes a transmission line extending away from the coupler towards the other of the box and pin end and in communication with the one or more antennas.

THREE-DIMENSIONAL PRINTED TOOLING FOR HIGH PRESSURE DIE CAST TOOLING

A high pressure casting die is disclosed. The high pressure casting die may include a die half that defines a recessed area and a build plate that may nest within the recessed area of the die half. The high pressure die casting may further include an additive section that is disposed on the build plate. The additive section may include a plurality of metallic powder layers, the thermal conductivity or the thermal expansion coefficient of the build plate and the additive section may be within 10% of each other.

MOLD SURFACE TREATMENT METHOD AND MOLD TREATED WITH SAID METHOD
20180229293 · 2018-08-16 ·

A method of treating a surface of a mold. The method includes forming dimples on a surface of a mold by ejecting substantially spherical ejection-particles so as to bombard the surface of the mold. The dimples are formed so as to satisfy a condition defined by the following formula:

1+3.3e.sup.H/230W3+13.4e.sup.H/1060

wherein W is an equivalent diameter (m) of the dimples and H is a base metal hardness (Hv) of the mold.

DIE-CASTING PISTON, AND DIE-CASTING APPARATUS INCORPORATING SAME
20180185910 · 2018-07-05 · ·

A piston of a die-casting apparatus comprises: a piston head fabricated of a first material; an elongate, inner carrier coupled to the piston head; a generally annular body seated on the carrier adjacent the piston head; and a wear ring disposed on the piston head, the wear ring being fabricated of a second material. The first material has a higher toughness and a lower hardness than the second material.

ALUMINUM ALLOY FOR DIE CASTING AND DIE CASTING MOLD MANUFACTURED USING THE SAME
20180169745 · 2018-06-21 ·

The present disclosure relates to an aluminum alloy for die casting, more particularly, to an aluminum alloy for die casting which has high corrosion resistance, strength and castability.

The embodiments of the present disclosure provide an aluminum alloy for die casting comprising a composition ratio having an aluminum (Al) content which occupies almost the composition ratio of the aluminum alloy; a magnesium (Mg) content of 2.53.0%; a silicon (Si) content of 9.60.5%; a zinc (Zn) content of 0.5% or less; and a copper (Cu) content of 0.15% or less.

Rapid tooling insert manufacture

A method of fabricating a die cast article is disclosed and includes forming an insert with an additive manufacturing process to define a cavity for generating desired part geometry. The insert is then mounted within a mold tool, material is injected into the cavity to fill the cavity and form a cast article.

NITRIDED LAYER REPAIR METHOD

There is provided a nitrided layer repair method in which a molten metal is pressurized and solidified, and thus a nitrided layer formed on a cavity surface of a mold used to form a casting object is repaired. In the nitrided layer repair method, a nitriding source is applied to the cavity surface, and the cavity surface of the mold is nitrided by heating and pressurizing the cavity surface using the molten metal.

Shrink-fitting process for making an erosion and wear resistant shot chamber for die casting applications
12194528 · 2025-01-14 ·

A process of forming an erosion, oxidation, and wear resistant shot chamber, either a gooseneck or a shot sleeve, is provided. The process utilizes a shrink fitting process for forming a one-piece shot chamber having a liner bonded to the bulk portion of the shot chamber. Channels of predetermined shape and layout are built on the tubular external surface of the liner for facilitating thermal management of the shot chamber during die casting operations.

MOLD INSERT FOR IMPROVED HEAT TRANSFER
20170305087 · 2017-10-26 ·

A mold block includes a tool body with a contoured finished surface adapted to receive a tool insert having a forming surface for forming a bottle neck in a molding operation. The tool body defines an internal channel for heat transfer with the forming surface. At least a portion of the channel is offset generally equidistant from the finished surface to provide a path contoured for conformal cooling of the insert. The tool body has a pair of ports intersecting the channel. Several methods for forming a mold block are disclosed and include machining a contoured finished surface adapted to receive a tool insert on a tool body, forming a heat transfer channel within the tool body, and forming a pair of ports into the tool body. At least a portion of the channel is offset generally equidistant from the finished surface for conformal cooling of the insert.
