CONTAMINANT-PURGING COLD CHAMBER DIE CASTING APPARATUS AND METHOD
A die casting insert for producing die casted metal parts from liquid metal. The die casting insert has an outer casing shaped to be fixed in the die block of the die casting apparatus. The die casting insert also has a stopper with a purge opening that is adapted to evacuate contaminants topping the liquid metal as pressure is applied to the liquid metal. The stopper, fitted to mate with the hollow inner cavity of the injection sleeve, is constructed to seal the hollow inner cavity of the injection sleeve except at the purge opening when in a first position; and to permit the flow of the liquid metal into at least one molding cavity when the stopper is in a second position. The die casting insert also has an activation mechanism configured to shift the stopper between the first position and the second position.
COMPOSITE PART WITH EXTERNAL PART CAST AROUND INTERNAL INSERT AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
Composite parts (100) and methods of making the same are disclosed. A composite part may include an internal insert component (124) made of a first material. The internal insert component may be provided with surface features such as mechanical surface features or material surface features, on at least a portion of its surface. The composite part may further include an external part component (136) that is cast around at least a portion of the internal insert component, and is made of a second material different from the first material. The surface features of the internal insert component may help establish a bond within the composite part between the internal insert component and the external part component.
Injection mold with centering device
An injection mold with a centering device includes a die-holding plate with a cavity-forming die unit, a core-holding plate with a core unit, and a stripping plate between the core-holding and die-holding plates. The centering device has a insert and a mount with a clearance, which is rotationally symmetrical about a center axis and is for receiving the insert. The insert has an opening for receiving the core unit and the insert and the clearance of the mount are insertable in a torsion-free manner in the clearance of the mount in at least three positions rotatable about a center axis of the insert, and the center axis of the clearance and the center axis of the insert overlie one another. A center axis of the opening of the insert is arranged eccentrically in relation to the center axis of the insert by an offset. The centering unit is arranged in the stripping plate.

An injection mold with a centering device includes a die-holding plate with a cavity-forming die unit, a core-holding plate with a core unit, and a stripping plate between the core-holding and die-holding plates. The centering device has a insert and a mount with a clearance, which is rotationally symmetrical about a center axis and is for receiving the insert. The insert has an opening for receiving the core unit and the insert and the clearance of the mount are insertable in a torsion-free manner in the clearance of the mount in at least three positions rotatable about a center axis of the insert, and the center axis of the clearance and the center axis of the insert overlie one another. A center axis of the opening of the insert is arranged eccentrically in relation to the center axis of the insert by an offset. The centering unit is arranged in the stripping plate.
Collapsible core and a casting mold half equipped therewith
A collapsible core is provided for attachment to a mold half of a casting mold, particularly a diecasting mold. The collapsible core can take the form of a removable collapsible core which can be detachably mounted on the mold half on the mold cavity side. A collapsible core can have a core cylinder body of at least two first core sections in the form of cylinder segments and at least two second core sections in the form of cylinder segments arranged alternating with the first sections over the circumferential direction. The first and the second core sections are retained moveably relative to one another. The relative movement here between the first and the second core sections consists of an axial relative movement component between the first and the second core sections and a radial collapsing movement of the first and/or the second core section.

A collapsible core is provided for attachment to a mold half of a casting mold, particularly a diecasting mold. The collapsible core can take the form of a removable collapsible core which can be detachably mounted on the mold half on the mold cavity side. The first and the second core sections are retained moveably relative to one another. The relative movement here between the first and the second core sections consists of an axial relative movement component between the first and the second core sections and a radial collapsing movement of the first and/or the second core section.
