CUTTING PLATE AND METHOD AND COMPRESSION MOLD FOR PRODUCING A GREEN BODY OF THE CUTTING PLATE
A compression tool, a cutting plate and a method of producing a cutting plate by multiaxial pressing a powder mixture of a hard metal component and a binder to form a green body is provided. After pressing, the body has two parallel main surfaces and a peripheral edge surface extending between and connecting the main surfaces. The main surfaces include depressions, such that cutting edges are formed at the intersection of the bottom of the depressions and at least a part of the edge surface. A heading tool includes a main punch and an independently moveable form punch. In a first pressing step, the form punch is moved towards the powder mixture to form a preliminarily compressed portion. In a second step, the main punch and the form punch are both moved towards a final position to provide the green body with its final dimensions including the depressions
Tool Set Having Deflection Compensation
A tool and die set and related method of use of the tool and die set in a press for the compaction of a powder metal into a preform involves an uneven amount of positional deflection of at least two lower or upper tool members. This asymmetrical elastic response under load may help to eliminate cracking of the part after the compressive load is removed.
MOLDING DIE AND MOLDING METHOD
The molding die of the invention includes: a first die having a through-hole; a second die inserted into the through-hole and capable of moving relative to the first die; and a first punch and a second punch each insertable into the through-hole. A cavity surrounded by the second die, the first punch, and the second punch to compression-mold a molding object is formed in the through-hole. An undercut molding part is formed in the surface of the second die facing the cavity. The second die is formed so as to be splittable into two or more split bodies.
Cutting inserts with cross-holes and green bodies and methods for making such cutting inserts and green bodies
A green body for a cross-hole, compacted cutting insert, as well as a cutting insert, equipment for making a green body, and method for making a green body, wherein the green body includes a first side, a second side, and a side surface extending between the first side and the second side entirely around the first side and the second side. The green body includes a quadrilateral-shaped cross-hole extending through the green body from a first location on the side surface to a second location on the side surface on an opposite side of the green body from the first location. The quadrilateral-shape of the cross-hole can assist in achieving a more uniform density of compactable material in the green body.
PRESS-TOOL
A press-tool for manufacturing a cutting insert green body includes a first and a second punch movable along a first pressing axis. A first and a second die member are movable towards an end position. The first and the second die members are configured to form, in the end position, a die cavity. A core extends between and through the die cavity when the first and the second die member are in the end position. At least a first core portion is arranged to form the core, wherein the at least first core portion is arranged in the first or the second die member such that the at least first core portion is moved together with the first or the second die member.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING MULTILAYER MOLDED ARTICLE
A die having a cavity and a lower punch fitted into the cavity. The cavity is divided and the parts slide along a division plane passing through the cavity parallel to the fitting direction of the die and the lower punch. The divided cavity parts are placed in a state of alignment along the division plane. The divided cavity parts are each filled with raw material powder. The die and the lower punch are then slid along the division plane, whereby the divided cavity parts are combined as the original cavity. The raw material powder in the cavity in a combined state is compressed by an upper punch and the lower punch.
Jointed component, method for manufacturing the same, and compacting die assembly
Provided is a jointed component (A) in which a first member (10) and a second member (20) in which a pillar (22) stands erect on a surface of a base (21) are fixed to each other, the second member. The jointed component includes the first member and the second member including the base and the pillar disposed on the first surface of the base. The pillar is brought into contact with the first member in an axial direction. The second member includes a positioning surface (23) that has a height difference from an end surface of the second member in the axial direction and the second member includes a curved surface at a ridge between the positioning surface and a side surface of the pillar.
MOLDING DIE AND MOLDING METHOD
A molding die includes a first die having a through-hole; a second die inserted into the through-hole and configured to be movable relative to the first die; and first and second punches configured to be insertable into the through-hole, wherein an undercut molding part is provided on the second die, and a molding target is compression-molded in a cavity surrounded by inner side walls of the through-hole, the second die, the first punch, and the second punch.
MANUFACTURING A HARD-METAL PRESSED ARTICLE
A method for the manufacture of a hard-metal pressed article comprises providing a multi-part die, involving: feeding at least one frontal mold part that is movable in a first plane; feeding at least one transverse mold part that is movable in a second plane; and locking the at least one frontal mold part and the at least one transverse mold part to define a cavity for a pressed article. Feed directions of the at least one frontal mold part and the at least one transverse mold part are inclined to one another. The at least one frontal mold part and the at least one transverse mold part define surfaces of the pressed article. The resulting cavity comprises at least one opening through which a punch is insertable. The method further comprises feeding a filling shoe above an opening of the cavity and filling the cavity with a hard-metal powder; and compressing the powder with at least one punch that is movable parallel to a main pressing direction. The feeding of the at least one transverse mold part takes place along a feed direction that is parallel to the main pressing direction.
