BUILD MATERIAL EXTRACTION USING VIBRATION AND AIRFLOW
In one example in accordance with the present disclosure, an additive manufacturing platform is described. The additive manufacturing platform includes a vibrating bed on which a volume of build material is to be disposed. The bed is to vibrate to remove excess build material and operates in at least two extraction modes during a build material extraction period. The additive manufacturing platform also includes a non-vibrating frame to support the vibrating bed.
Additive manufacturing, bond modifying system and method
An additive manufacturing system including a two-dimensional energy patterning system for imaging a powder bed is disclosed. The two-dimensional energy patterning system may be used to control a state of matter of each successive additive layer. Accordingly, the system may be used to alter the chemical bond arrangement of the material forming the various additive layers.
High Throughput Additive Manufacturing System Supporting Absorption Of Amplified Spontaneous Emission In Laser Amplifiers
In one embodiment a manufacturing method involves generating laser light at a first wavelength or range of wavelengths. A laser amplifier having a gain medium that amplifies light at a second wavelength or range of wavelengths can be optically pumped in response to receiving the generated laser light. The gain medium is cooled with a coolant fluid able to absorb the second wavelength or range of wavelengths and the generated and amplified laser light is directed toward an article processing unit.

A system is disclosed for use in additively manufacturing a composite structure. The system may include a head configured to discharge a continuous reinforcement at least partially coated with a matrix. The head may have a matrix reservoir, and a nozzle connected to an end of the matrix reservoir. The system may further include a support configured to move the head during discharging, and a supply of matrix. The system may also include at least one sensor configured to generate a signal indicative of a matrix characteristic inside of the head, and a controller configured to selectively affect the supply of matrix based on the signal.
Device for the generative production of a three-dimensional object
An apparatus for the generative production of a three-dimensional object by successive, selective layer-by-layer solidification of construction material layers of a solidifiable construction material by means of at least one energy beam, comprising at least one device for generating at least one energy beam for selective layer-by-layer solidification of individual construction material layers of a solidifiable construction material, wherein the device is configured to generate an energy beam directed directly onto a construction plane, and an exhaust device which is configured to exhaust non-solidified construction material detached from the construction plane during processing and/or process gases arising during processing, wherein the exhaust device comprises at least one exhaust element through which a suction flow may or does flow, wherein at least one passage opening is formed in the at least one exhaust element for passage of an energy beam generated by the device and directed directly onto the construction plane.
SYSTEM, PRINT HEAD, AND COMPACTOR FOR CONTINUOUSLY MANUFACTURING COMPOSITE STRUCTURE
A compactor is disclosed for use with an additive manufacturing print head. The compactor may include a housing connectable to the additive manufacturing print head. The compactor may also include a compacting wheel, and at least one spring disposed in the housing and configured to exert an axial force on the compacting wheel. The compactor may further include a piston moveable to adjust a distance between the housing and the compacting wheel.

ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING WITH A POLYGON SCANNER
An additive manufacturing apparatus includes a platform, a dispenser configured to deliver a plurality of successive layers of feed material onto the platform, at least one light source configured to generate a first light beam and a second light beam, a polygon minor scanner, an actuator, and a galvo minor scanner. The polygon minor scanner is configured to receive the first light beam and reflect the first light beam towards the platform. Rotation of the first polygon mirror causes the light beam to move in a first direction along a path on a layer of feed material on the platform. The actuator is configured to cause the path to move along a second direction at a non-zero angle relative to the first direction. The galvo mirror scanner system is configured to receive the second light beam and reflect the second light beam toward the platform.
Methods of making metal bond and vitreous bond abrasive articles, and abrasive article precursors
The present disclosure provides methods of making a vitreous bond abrasive article and a metal bond abrasive article. The methods include sequential steps. Step a) includes a subprocess including sequentially: i) depositing a layer of loose powder particles in a confined region; and ii) selectively applying heat via conduction or irradiation, to heat treat an area of the layer of loose powder particles. The loose powder particles include abrasive particles and organic compound particles, as well as vitreous bond precursor particles or metal particles. The layer of loose powder particles has substantially uniform thickness. Step b) includes independently carrying out step a) a number of times to generate an abrasive article preform comprising the bonded powder particles and remaining loose powder particles. Step c) includes separating remaining loose powder particles from the abrasive article preform. Step d) includes heating the abrasive article preform to provide the vitreous bond abrasive article comprising the abrasive particles retained in a vitreous bond material, or to provide the metal bond abrasive article. A method of making a metal bond abrasive optionally includes infusing an abrasive article preform with a molten lower melting metal and solidifying the molten lower melting metal to provide the metal bond abrasive article. The present disclosure further provides a vitreous bond abrasive article precursor and a metal bond abrasive article precursor.
