DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A THREE-DIMENSIONAL WORKPIECE
We describe a process chamber, an apparatus, a modular system, a method, a safety device, a positioning system and a system for producing a three-dimensional workpiece and/or for use thereof when producing a three-dimensional workpiece. The process chamber for producing the three-dimensional workpiece via an additive layer construction method comprises: a material supply unit comprising a substantially ring-like shaped end portion at a first side of the process chamber, wherein the material supply unit is adapted to supply, via the end portion, material to a carrier on which the material is to be processed by the process chamber for producing the three-dimensional workpiece, and an opening at the first side of the process chamber for processing, by the process chamber, the material supplied on the carrier in order to produce the three-dimensional workpiece, wherein the substantially ring-like shaped end portion surrounds the opening.
Method for additive manufacturing
The invention relates to a method for forming a three-dimensional article through successive fusion of locations of a powder bed. The method comprising: providing a model of said three-dimensional article; applying a powder layer on a work table; determining a maximum scan length of an energy beam; directing said energy beam from a first energy beam source over said work table with constant energy causing said first powder layer to fuse in first selected locations according to said model to form a first cross section of said three-dimensional article, wherein locations with a shorter scan length than said maximum scan length is provided with a time sink before and/or after said scan line so that the time period between each two adjacent scan lines is constant throughout the manufacture of said three-dimensional article.
Multi-material three-dimensional printer with underlying adjustable binder
A jetted binder printing system includes a carrier substrate configured to travel along a longitudinal direction thereof, an adjustable binder printer configured to deliver an adjustable binder to the carrier substrate, a dispensing module located downstream from the adjustable binder printer on the longitudinal direction of the carrier substrate, the dispensing module including at least one powder container, the dispensing module being configured to dispense powder onto the carrier substrate, and a primary binder printer located downstream from the compaction module along the longitudinal direction of the carrier substrate. The primary binder printer includes a print head configured to print a primary binder on the dispensed powder according to a desired pattern. The primary binder is printed on a surface of the powder that is opposite a surface on which the adjustable binder is printed. The primary binder is printed to match the pattern of the adjustable binder.
DOCKING SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR APPLICATORS AND PRINT HEADS
In part, the disclosure relates to an applicator management system for fabricating 3D parts. The system includes a first applicator; a housing; a mount, wherein the mount is moveable in one or more directions within the housing; a build plate disposed within the housing, wherein position of build plate is adjustable in one or more directions; and an applicator changer coupled to the moveable mount; wherein the applicator changer includes a first interface to operatively engage the first applicator and a second applicator. In part, the disclosure relates to the use of magnetic coupling or docking system.
Modular additive manufacturing system and related methods for continuous part production
Modular additive manufacturing systems, related methods for simultaneously building three-dimensional parts in successively bonded layers, and related computer readable storage medium. A plurality of build assemblies is laid out along at least one direction of a manufacturing path defining a loop, and at least one build assembly is functioning to build a three-dimensional part from build material according to build instructions. A guidable module is guided via a guiding assembly along the manufacturing path to repeatedly perform at least one step necessary to build the three-dimensional part on each functioning build assembly.
