CUTTING INSERT
A cutting insert including a body having three vertices, an upper face, a lower face, and flank faces joining the upper and lower faces. At least one cutting edge is formed at an intersection between the upper face and the flank faces. A generally triangular-shaped island surrounds a central axis of the cutting insert and is higher in elevation than at least one portion of the upper face.
TETRAHEDRON-SHAPED CUTTING INSERT, INSERT HOLDER AND CUTTING TOOL
A cutting tool includes a two-way indexable cutting insert retained in a tool holder by a clamping member. The cutting insert has a tetrahedral basic shape and includes two cutting edges at opposite ends of thereof. The insert holder includes a forwardly located mounting portion that includes three spaced apart mounting jaws which together define an insert receiving pocket having a pocket opening. The clamping member is attached to the insert holder body so that a clamping portion of the clamping member protrudes into the pocket opening. When the cutting insert is releasably attached to the insert holder in a fastened position of a cutting tool, the cutting insert is located in the insert receiving pocket and clampingly engaged therein by the clamping portion.
Tool system
A cutting tool system comprising a carrier tool, a cutting plate having a clamping recess and a clamping element with an associated clamping bolt, wherein on the underside of the clamping element, which underside faces the cutting plate, an engagement element is arranged that is in clamping contact with the clamping recess in the engaged state and thereby anchors the cutting plate, and the clamping element is guided via a chamfer in such a manner that when tightening the clamping bolt, the clamping element is pulled in the clamping direction.
PARTING-OFF TOOL ASSEMBLY WITH SINGLE-CUTTING-EDGED SOLID CUTTING INSERT AND RIGID-INSERT-SEAT TOOL
A tool assembly for heavy duty machining includes an insert, tool and clamp for securing the insert to a rigid insert seat of the tool. The insert is a solid cutting insert including a single cutting edge located at a corner region thereof. At a diagonally opposed corner region the insert is not subjected to clamping forces.
Cartridge for a grooving tool holder, corresponding grooving tool holder, kit and assembly thereof
A cartridge for a grooving tool holder extends along a mid-thickness plane by being bordered in the mid-thickness plane by peripheral surfaces of the cartridge. The peripheral surfaces of the cartridge include a clamping surface, a back surface for the fixation to the grooving tool holder along a screwing direction, and a front surface. The cartridge has a coolant channel extending along a direction from the back surface to the front surface. The screwing direction and the direction of extension of the coolant channel are both included in the mid-thickness plane of the cartridge. A grooving tool holder includes an upper front surface for fixation by screwing to the back surface of the cartridge.
Holder and cutting tool
A holder for grooving work includes a shank portion, and a head portion located on an end portion thereof. The head portion includes an insert attaching space, an upper and lower respectively located above and below the insert attaching space, a slit extending backward from the insert attaching space, an upper and a lower jaw connecting portions divided by the slit, an upper clamp surface on the upper jaw and a lower clamp surface on the lower jaw opposed to the insert attaching space. A column-shaped groove is connected to the deepest end of the slit. The column-shaped groove is formed to reduce the thickness of the upper jaw connecting portion, and extends from the lateral face on the side of the insert attaching space halfway along the deepest end of the slit toward the opposite lateral face. Upon attaching the insert to the holder the cutting tool is obtained.
Grooving tool with brazed carbide top clamp
A tool is provided having a tool holder and a brazed top clamp positioned in a portion of the tool holder. The brazed top clamp is made of a material that has a hardness that is greater than the material that makes up the tool holder. In certain embodiments, the tool holder has a slot that is in the shape of a T-slot and the top clamp is in the shape of a T shaped rail that is positioned within the T-slot of the tool holder.
