A cutting tool holder has a holder body and a vibration damping weight assembly. The holder body has opposing first and second side surfaces and a top surface extending therebetween, and an insert mounting portion located at a front end of the holder body adjacent to the top surface. A weight aperture opens out to the first and second side surfaces and has an aperture inner surface. The weight assembly is located within the weight aperture, having a first and second weight portions, a damping ring located along the aperture inner surface, and an actuating member interfacing and urging the first and second weight portions away from one another, such that each weight portion presses against the damping ring within the weight aperture.

Turning toolholder with enhanced coolant delivery system

A turning toolholder includes a shank, a club head, and a clamp and a clamp screw for clamping a cutting insert. The club head includes a clamp coolant supply hole in fluid communication, a flank coolant supply hole and an auxiliary rake coolant supply hole, all in fluid communication with the main coolant supply hole. Coolant is supplied through a rake coolant exit opening formed in the forward nose portion of the clamp to direct coolant to the top rake surface of the cutting insert, and coolant is supplied through a flank coolant exit opening located below the insert-receiving pocket to provide coolant to the side flank surfaces of the cutting insert. In addition, an auxiliary rake coolant supply housing formed on a top surface of the club head supplies additional coolant to the top rake surface of the cutting insert during high heat applications.

A cutting tool system comprising a carrier tool, a cutting plate having a clamping recess and a clamping element with an associated clamping bolt, wherein on the underside of the clamping element, which underside faces the cutting plate, an engagement element is arranged that is in clamping contact with the clamping recess in the engaged state and thereby anchors the cutting plate, and the clamping element is guided via a chamfer in such a manner that when tightening the clamping bolt, the clamping element is pulled in the clamping direction.

Tool holder having a clamping member with a non-circular cross-section and method for clamping a cutting insert therein
09656326 · 2017-05-23 · ·

A tool holder has a main body with a holder head extending away from a holder shank, the holder head having an insert receiving pocket at a forward end thereof, with a pocket support surface. A clamping member is retained in the holder head, the clamping member comprising a clamping shaft longitudinally extending along a shaft axis. A locking member operatively engages an abutment surface of the clamping shaft. The shaft axis does not intersect the pocket support surface, and the clamping shaft has a non-circular shape in a cross-section taken perpendicular to the shaft axis. The tool holder is configured to direct a clamping force towards, and clamp a cutting insert against, the pocket support surface.

PRESSING MEMBER, TOOL BODY AND CUTTING TOOL

A pressing member is configured to be inserted into a pocket of a tool body for pressing and fixing a cutting insert placed in a mounting part of the pocket onto a mounting surface of the mounting part. The pressing member includes a wedge part having a contacting surface that comes into contact with an inner surface of the pocket, and a pressing surface that is in contact with the cutting insert. The pressing surface is formed so as to gradually come close to the contacting surface in an insertion direction into the pocket. The pressing member also includes a pressure-receiving part that is pushed into the pocket in the insertion direction by a fastening component that is screwed into the pocket.

Retaining member and cutting tool

The boundary flow path is constituted of a pair of boundary wall surfaces facing each other in a first cross section intersecting each of the first flow path, the boundary flow path, and the second flow path. An inclination of a tangent to at least one of the pair of boundary wall surfaces is continuously changed. In a second cross section perpendicular to a direction in which coolant flows, a lateral width of the first flow path is larger than a longitudinal width of the first flow path and a lateral width of the second flow path is larger than a longitudinal width of the second flow path when a longitudinal direction represents a direction in which the pair of boundary wall surfaces face each other and a lateral direction represents a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction.
