Drill body and drill
A drill body and a drill are disclosed. The drill body has a rotational axis and includes a peripheral chip flute extending along a periphery of the drill body. A peripheral chip flute cross-section has a centre line extending in a plane extending perpendicularly to the rotational axis, and through the rotational axis. The peripheral chip flute cross-section has a radially inner side extending perpendicularly to the centre line, and first and second lateral sides connecting to the radially inner side. The radially inner side has a length L1 within a range of L1=0.95×D/4 to L1=1.2×D/4. Each of the first and second lateral sides has a length LS1, LS2 within a range of D/4 to 1.3×D/4. The first and second lateral sides diverge from each other in a direction radially outwards from the radially inner side.
Drilling system and modular drilling head for deep hole drilling
A drilling system and methods provide stability and cutting performance to produce holes having desired straightness and other characteristics. The system may include a cutting head provided with a central cutting system and first and second side cutting inserts. The tool provides a major diameter with the OD cutting margins on the replaceable side inserts, as well as possibly cutting margins on the center cutting member. Adjustment mechanisms may be provided to adjust the center cutting member and/side cutting inserts.
DRILLING TOOL
A drilling tool comprising a tool holder that extends along a central axis and comprises a first cutting insert receptacle having a first abutment surface oriented parallel to the central axis. The drilling tool further comprises a first cutting insert that is fixed in the first cutting insert receptacle and abuts with one of its sides against the first abutment surface, wherein an axial portion of the first cutting insert projects axially beyond an end face end of the tool holder, and wherein the first cutting insert comprises in the axial portion a first main cutting edge that is inclined with respect to a first imaginary plane, which is oriented orthogonally to the central axis and arranged at the end face end of the tool holder, so that a radially outer end of the first main cutting edge is spaced a larger distance from the first imaginary plane than a radially inner end of the first main cutting edge and the first main cutting edge does not intersect the first imaginary plane, and wherein the first main cutting edge touches or intersects a second imaginary plane that is spanned by the central axis and oriented orthogonally to the first abutment surface.
Indexable drilling tool
An indexable drilling tool includes a cutting insert and a body. The body has a cylindrical shape. The body has a chip discharge groove and a tip seat. The chip discharge groove is in an outer circumference of the body. The tip seat is at a distal end of the body. The tip seat where the cutting insert is placeable wherein. Among wall surfaces constituting the chip discharge groove, a wall surface facing in a direction opposite to a rotating direction of the body. The wall surface has a bulging portion at a distal end thereof. The bulging portion protrudes so as to cover a part of a top surface of the cutting insert. A maximum gap between the bulging portion and the top surface of the cutting insert is smaller than a height of a wall constituting the tip seat.
Machining tool
This disclosure relates to a machining tool having a base body which is rotatable about a rotary axis and movable in a feed direction along the rotary axis, at least one cutting element which is fixed on the base body and has a front cutting edge pointing in the feed direction, and a flute associated with the cutting element and formed by a recess in the base body. In order to control the chip flow, according to this disclosure, a flute cover mounted on the base body is proposed, which outwardly covers a chip removal area of the flute adjoining the cutting element.
Suction Adapter
A suction adapter for a drilling tool with a conduit includes a housing, at least one air intake port, and a valve unit. The valve unit is configured to open the air intake port as a function of a flow parameter.
DRILL BODY AND DRILL
A drill body and a drill are disclosed. The drill body has a rotational axis and comprises a central chip flute extending along a periphery of the drill body. A central chip flute cross-section has a centre line extending in a plane extending perpendicularly to the rotational axis, and through the rotational axis. The central chip flute cross-section has a depth, as seen along the centre line, and a width as seen perpendicularly to the centre line. The central chip flute cross-section has a maximum depth Dp within a range of Dp=0.75D/2 to Dp=0.90D/2, and a maximum width W within a range of W=0.75D/2 to W=0.90D/2, and wherein the maximum width W extends symmetrically about the centre line.
