CUTTING TOOL
A machining tool for cutting a work component includes a cutting tool insert having a cutting surface along a portion of an external surface that defines a circumference of the cutting tool insert. A plurality of cartridges are insertable into the machining tool, each having an insert pocket for receiving the cutting tool insert. The cutting tool insert is rotatable between first, second and third fixed positions in each insert pocket of the plurality of cartridges, a first portion of the cutting surface exposed when the cutting tool insert is in the first fixed position, a second portion of the cutting surface exposed when the cutting tool insert is in the second fixed position, and a third portion of the cutting surface exposed when the cutting tool insert is in the third fixed position. The insert pocket of each of the plurality of cartridges is offset from each other.
Cutting tool
A machining tool for cutting a work component includes a cutting tool insert having a cutting surface along a portion of an external surface that defines a circumference of the cutting tool insert. A plurality of cartridges are insertable into the machining tool, each having an insert pocket for receiving the cutting tool insert. The cutting tool insert is rotatable between first, second and third fixed positions in each insert pocket of the plurality of cartridges, a first portion of the cutting surface exposed when the cutting tool insert is in the first fixed position, a second portion of the cutting surface exposed when the cutting tool insert is in the second fixed position, and a third portion of the cutting surface exposed when the cutting tool insert is in the third fixed position. The insert pocket of each of the plurality of cartridges is offset from each other.

An undersized indexable cutting insert being devoid of a through bore and has exactly three main cutting edges. The cutting insert has an inscribed circle which tangentially contacts only and all main cutting edges, and has an inscribed circle diameter of under 3.8 millimeters.
TOOL CARRIER WITH NOTCH, CUTTING INSERT AND METHOD FOR MAKING SAME
A cutting insert includes a tool carrier having a body with a pocket, and a cutting tip affixed to the pocket by brazing. The pocket is defined by a vertical back wall and a horizontal support surface. A notch is formed at the intersection between the vertical back wall and the horizontal support surface. The notch has a non-planar first portion proximate the vertical back wall and formed with a radius, R1, and a planar second portion extending between the first portion and the horizontal support surface and formed at an inclination angle with respect to a plane parallel to the horizontal support surface of the pocket. The design of the notch significantly reduces thermal stress and eliminates the formation of cracks in the pocket of the tool carrier when using an injection molding process to form the tool carrier.
Tool carrier with notch, cutting insert and method for making same
A cutting insert includes a tool carrier having a body with a pocket, and a cutting tip affixed to the pocket by brazing. CUTTING INSERT AND CUTTING TOOL
A cutting insert is provided, which can be prevented from being lifted from a tool body. A cutting insert includes two end surfaces opposed to each other, a peripheral side surface extending between the two end surfaces, a cutting edge provided at an intersecting edge between at least one of the two end surfaces and the peripheral side surface, and a fixing hole provided in an end surface direction from the first end surface to the second end surface. The peripheral side surface is provided with raised parts changing in height in the end surface direction.
Cutting insert for high-efficient cutting
A cutting insert for high-efficiency cutting is disclosed. The cutting insert includes an upper surface (110a), a lower surface (HOb), side surfaces (114) and corner side surfaces (116), which connect the side surfaces to each other. A circular opening is formed through the central portions of the upper and lower surfaces. In the cutting insert, cutting edges are formed by respective junctions between one of the upper and lower surfaces and the side surfaces and between one of the upper and lower surfaces and the corner side surfaces. The cutting edges comprise three corner cutting edges (122), six major cutting edges (124), which extend from opposite ends of the corner cutting edges towards the neighbor corner cutting edges, and three minor cutting edges (126), which are connected between the major cutting edges. Furthermore, the cutting edges may be formed on both the upper surface and the lower surface.
Drill cutting insert
A drill cutting insert has a cutting edge at a transition between a side surface and a top side which is formed with n identical cutting corners and n identical partial cutting edges with n{3, 4} extending between the cutting corners. Each of the n partial cutting edges has: adjoining a first cutting corner, a main lip which is straight in plan view of the top side; adjoining the other cutting corner, a secondary lip which is straight in plain view of the top side, and a transition section, via which the main lip and the secondary lip merge into one another and which has a convex section adjoining the main lip and a concave section adjoining the secondary lip. The main and secondary lips enclose on the outside an angle a <180 in plan view of the top side.
TURNING CUTTING INSERT WITH CORNER CUTTING PORTION HAVING REDUCED NOSE ANGLE AND TURNING TOOL
A cutting tool has an insert holder and a cutting insert releasably attached thereto. The cutting insert has an insert edge which includes two nose cutting edges and a convex corner cutting edge which extends therebetween. The two nose cutting edges form a nose angle. The insert edge also includes two mid-side edges which are located further from the corner cutting edge than the nose cutting edges. The two mid-side edges form a mid-side angle. The nose angle is less than the mid-side angle.
