A solid end mill is rotatable around a central rotational axis and includes a cutting portion having a plurality flutes with peripheral cutting edges formed between associated rake surfaces and clearance surfaces. The peripheral cutting edge forms a convexly curved lobe cutting edge portion disposed along an axial front part of the cutting portion. A neck cutting edge portion is connected to the lobe cutting edge portion and is disposed along an axial intermediate part of the cutting portion. A shoulder cutting edge portion is connected to the neck cutting edge portion and is disposed along an axial rear part of the cutting portion. The peripheral cutting edge extends at a linear and constant axial inclination angle θ within the range 5°≤θ≤15°. The rake surface forms positive radial rake angles α.sub.L,N,S along the entire extension of the peripheral cutting edge.

PERIPHERAL MILLING TOOL AND METHOD FOR ARRANGING CUTTING EDGES
20220176470 · 2022-06-09 ·

A circumferential milling tool (10) for cutting metal is described, which comprises a milling cutter body (14) that can be rotated about a tool axis (12) and has at least two cutting edge groups. The arrangement of the first cutting edge group results in a first average chip thickness for the cutting edges (16) of the first cutting edge group and a second average chip thickness for the cutting edges (18, 20, 22, 24, 26) of the second cutting edge group. The first average chip thickness and the second average chip thickness are substantially equal. A method for arranging cutting edges (16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26) on a circumferential milling tool (10) that can be rotated about a tool axis (12) is presented as well.

Tool head and tool system including a tool head

A tool head is for machining edges of a workpiece and includes a first tool section with first blades and a second tool section with second blades. The second blades are positioned between the first blades when seen in the circumferential direction. The second section is movable relative to the first section in the direction of the longitudinal axis between a passive and active position. The second blades are axially recessed relative to the first blades in the passive position and project axially outwards between the first blades in the active position. The tool head has a pressure switching mechanism for moving the second tool section between the passive and active position. In a tool system, the tool head and an actuation element can be moved axially relative to each other. The at least one actuation surface and the actuation element are configured to be axially pressed towards each other.
