An end mill includes end cutting edges located at a front end side of a cutting edge portion of a body including rotation axis, peripheral cutting edges, and helically extending flutes. Each of the peripheral cutting edges and the flutes are alternately located from the front end side to a rear end side, and a first distance between a deepest position of the flute and the rotation axis is equal among the respective flutes in a cross section taken along the rotation axis. The flute includes a first region located at a side of the peripheral cutting edge and includes the deepest position, a second region located at a side of a heel, and a boundary. A second distance from the rotation axis to the boundary located at the rear end side is larger than the second distance located at the front end side.

A end mill includes: an end mill body having a rotation axis, the end mill body including a shank portion and a cutting portion with an outer peripheral cutting edge; an end cutting edge including a first cutting edge and a second cutting edge; a first gash opening between the first cutting edge and the second cutting edge; and a second gash located adjacently to the first gash in the rotational direction, and opening to a side closer to the outside peripheral from the chisel portion. A ratio (L1/L2) of a length (L1) from a distal end of the end mill body to a terminal end of the first gash to a length (L2) from the distal end of the end mill body to a terminal end of the second gash, when viewed from a side, is from 0.8 to 1.1.

MILLING TOOL

A milling tool is suggested having a base body (3), a central axis (M), and a front side (5), whereby at least two geometrically defined first front edges (9) that are arranged, respectively, at front side (5) of base body (3) exhibit a first edge section (13) facing central axis (M).

Milling tool (1) distinguishes itself by the first edge sections (13) of the at least two front edges (9) being formed in an ascending fashion towards center axis (M), so that they form a centering tip (15), and that centering tip (15) is arranged in a recessed manner in an axial direction when compared with an axial outermost point (17) of at least two of the first front edges (9).

Rotary cutting tool

A rotary cutting tool or end mill is provided, the tool comprising a plurality of pairs of diametrically-opposed, symmetrical, helical flutes formed in a cutting portion of the tool body, wherein the pitch between at least one pair of adjacent helical flutes is less than or greater than the pitch of at least one other pair of adjacent helical flutes in at least one radial plane along the axial length of the flutes, a plurality of peripheral cutting edges, wherein at least one of the peripheral cutting edges has a radial rake angle different from radial rake angle of a peripheral cutting edge of a different helical flute.

MACHINING TOOL

A machining tool for machining fiber-reinforced materials, which comprises a plurality of flutes which separate lands from each other in the circumferential direction, wherein at least one land includes a plurality of cutting edges on its circumferential side, the cutting edges extending at a helix angle (a1-an, b1-bn, c1-cn, d1-dn) having an absolute value >25 with respect to the longitudinal axis of the machining tool, wherein at least two cutting edges on the at least one land have different helix angles (a1-an, b1-bn, c1-cn, d1-dn).

Surgical bur with a head having plural flutes, the flutes shaped so that, at the equator, the head has a shape that is not circular

A bur with features that minimize the application of substantially identical forces to the tissue against which the bur is applied. One of these features is the arrangement of the flutes so that one pair of flutes projects outwardly from the tip at an acute angle that is greater than the angle at which the other flutes project outwardly from tip. Consequently at the equator of the bur head, the location along the bur head where the bur head has a maximum diameter, the flutes define a perimeter that is non-circular in shape.

Dental milling tool

The invention provides a dental milling tool for milling dental materials in the making of dental prostheses. The dental milling tool is a ball-nose end mill having three helical flutes, each flute being associated with a cutting edge, each cutting edge having chip breakers along the curved edges of the ball. The dental milling tool may be formed from a hard material such as carbide based material, ceramic, cermet, superhard materials including polycrystalline diamond (PCD) and cubic boron nitride (CBN), and diamond composite. Alternatively, the dental milling tool may be coated with a hard coating such as diamond coating, diamond-like-carbon (DLC), nitride based coating such as titanium aluminium nitride (TiAlN), aluminium titanium nitride, (AlTiN), and titanium nitride (TiN), and ceramic coating.

Orbital cutting tool having cutting edges with axially varying circumferential spacing

A cutting tool for use in an orbital drilling machine may include a cutting-tool body having a longitudinal axis and a plurality of cutting edges supported on the cutting-tool body and distributed circumferentially around the cutting-tool body. Each cutting edge may extend along the longitudinal axis in a respective helix. A circumferential spacing may be defined between each pair of circumferentially adjacent cutting edges for each position of the longitudinal axis along which the cutting edges extend. The circumferential spacing between at least first and second cutting edges of the plurality of cutting edges may be different at spaced-apart first and second positions along the longitudinal axis.

Rotary cutting tool with blades having repeating, unequal indexing and helix angles

A rotary cutting tool with a longitudinal axis includes a shank portion and a cutting portion defining a length of cut. The cutting portion includes a plurality of blades separated by flutes extending along the length of cut. A first blade forms a first helix angle with respect to the longitudinal axis at the cutting tip. A second blade adjacent the first blade forms a second, different helix angle with respect to the longitudinal axis at the cutting tip. A third blade adjacent the second blade forms a third, different helix angle with respect to the longitudinal axis at the cutting tip. The first, second and third helix angles deviate by at least 2 degrees. The cutting edges of the first, second and third blades have unequal indexing.
