The transmission mechanism includes an intermediate shaft provided in the housing, a first belt transmitting a rotational force of the motor to the intermediate shaft, a second belt transmitting a rotational force of the intermediate shaft to the output shaft, and a rotation member transmitting a rotational force of the second belt to the output shaft. The first belt and the second belt are positioned inside a space through which the cooling air passes.
Variable angle cutting deck for metal cutting chop saws
An improved chop saw cutting deck is moveably attached to a chop saw base with a hinge mechanism. The axis of the hinge mechanism is perpendicular to the vertical axis of the chop saw's cutting wheel, thereby allowing a change to the angle of inclination between the cutting wheel and materials placed on the cutting deck. For certain material profiles, this alternate inclination angle presents a smaller material surface area to the cutting wheel, and translates to cooler, faster, and more efficient abrasive cutting action. The cutting deck is supported in its inclined position by a deck support means, and may be reconfigured back to a horizontal orientation for effective cutting of various other material profiles. In addition, the preferred location of the hinge axis provides a consistent, lateral line of elevation across the cutting deck, thereby assuring continuous contact of elongated materials with supplemental material supports, such as sawhorses, throughout the cutting deck's range of motion.
CUTTING DEVICE WITH INTEGRATED AND INTERRUPTIBLE AUXILIARY POWER SUPPLY
An improved cutting device with an integrated and interruptible auxiliary power supply is disclosed herein. In a preferred embodiment, the improved cutting device is a miter saw having a trigger mechanism for controlling a cutting implement, and at least one 120V or 240V auxiliary power outlet. Electrical power is only provided to the cutting implement and the auxiliary power outlet when the triggering or a similar mechanism is activated, and the release of the triggering mechanism by the user automatically shuts off electrical power to both the cutting implement and the at least one auxiliary power outlet. The auxiliary power outlet is useful for powering any number of different accessories including, without limitation, a light, vacuum source, etc., and is repositionable.
Miter saw and workpiece support therefor
A miter saw and a workpiece support are provided. The workpiece support has a circular disc-shaped turntable penetrated by a saw blade slot serving as a passage for the saw blade lowered into the working position, a holder on one side for fastening the saw unit, and a radial arm which extends the turntable and the saw blade slot in the longitudinal direction of the slot radially outwards on a side opposite the holder. A radial arm connection is provided, on which the radial arm is detachably and co-rotatably attached to the turntable, or on which a radially outer radial arm outer portion of the radial arm is detachably and co-rotatably attached to a radially inner radial arm inner portion of the radial arm formed integrally with the turntable. The miter saw has blade that can be moved transversely and lowered from a position above the workpiece support.
Saw Drivetrain with a Chain Drive and Gear Train
A saw device includes a motor having a motor output shaft and a drivetrain that includes a gear train and a chain drive. The gear train has a first gear fixedly connected to the motor output shaft and a second gear fixedly connected to an intermediate shaft, the first gear meshing with the second gear so as to transmit rotation from the motor output shaft to the second gear. The chain drive has a driving sprocket fixedly connected to the intermediate shaft, a driven sprocket, and a chain configured to transmit rotation of the driving sprocket to rotation of the driven sprocket. The saw device further includes an arbor shaft fixedly connected to the driven sprocket, the arbor shaft configured to mount a saw blade such that the saw blade rotates with the arbor shaft, and an upper guard configured to enclose at least a portion of the saw blade.
Moveable Saw Fence and Saw Support
A miter saw includes a base, a horizontal table supported by the base, an arm pivotably coupled to the base at a rear pivot point configured to permit the arm to pivot about a horizontal axis, a circular saw blade arbor supported by the arm at a location spaced forward from the rear pivot point, and a circular saw blade supported by and concentric with the arbor. The saw blade is configured to be driven to cut a workpiece on the horizontal table. The rear pivot point permits the blade to move along an arc in a vertical plane perpendicular to the horizontal table. Between a rear edge of the arbor and a rear edge of the blade, the arm extends substantially above the height of the blade to allow substantially the entire blade area rearward of the rear edge of the arbor to be available for cutting the workpiece.
Chop Saw
A chop saw power tool for cutting metal is described. The chop saw power tool has a saw base and a cutting head assembly. The saw base has: a support structure and a workpiece support table having a workpiece support surface to receive a workpiece. The workpiece support table is rotatable in a plane of the workpiece support surface relative to the support structure to select an angle of cut of the workpiece. The cutting head assembly has: a circular cutting blade on the cutting head assembly and an axis of rotation such that the circular cutting blade rotates within a cutting plane arranged in a fixed orientation perpendicular to the plane of the workpiece support surface. The cutting head assembly is pivotable relative to the saw base in a direction parallel to the cutting plane. The cutting head assembly is linearly moveable relative to the workpiece support table.
