SYSTEM AND METHOD TO LOCATE AND REPAIR INSERT HOLES ON A GAS TURBINE COMPONENT

A method to repair an opening in a metallic device including: mount the device on a positioner; while the device is mounted on the positioner, sense and record positions of a surface of an opening in the device using a probe operated by a manipulator; based on the recorded positions determine a centerline and diameter of the opening; orient a digital model of the opening with respect to the opening of the device based on the centerline and diameter of the opening, and apply an weld or cladding to the opening by a welding torch maneuvered automatically by the manipulator while the device is mounted to the positioner and based on the oriented digital model of the opening.

Stabilizer for a motor vehicle and method for producing the same

A method of producing a stabilizer (10) of a motor vehicle, such that the stabilizer includes a torsion bar (11) and longitudinal links (12, 13). The longitudinal links (12, 13) are in each case connected to the torsion bar (11) by welding, and the longitudinal links (12, 13) and the torsion bar (11) are heat-treated before welding. Each longitudinal link (12, 13) is welded at one end to the torsion bar (11) on both sides, in each case, by a respective multilayer weld seam (14), and each weld seam (14) is made with unequal widths such that the width of the weld seam (14) adjacent to the torsion bar (11) is shorter than its width adjacent to the respective longitudinal link (12, 13).

Welding method for shell and tube

A method for welding tubes in a shell and tube heat exchanger, including forming ring-shaped tube sheet grooves on the tube sheet at the shell side, inserting tube joint members into the tube insertion holes of the tube sheet, producing ring wires by cutting a welding wire into pieces and bending the pieces into a ring shape, affixing the ring wire to the outer circumference of one end of the tube, inserting the end of the tube into the tube sheet such that the end of the tube contacts one end of the tube joint member and is located within the recessed distance range of the tube sheet groove, and performing shell side welding by inserting a welding torch into the tube joint member and welding the end of the tube joint member, the end of the tube and the joint part to the tube sheet at the shell side using the ring wire as filler metal.

The invention is directed at the mechanical engineering industry field. More in detail, the invention concerns an orbital welding head (1) for welding tubes (2) to tube plates (3) of heat-exchangers comprising, operationally connected to each other: an electrode holder welding torch (4), supply lines for a welding current and technical gases; a rotating joint (6) comprising a hollow fixed distributor body, a bush comprising an external thread adapted to cooperate with a corresponding internal thread of said fixed distributor body and adapted to be fitted on a rotating shaft, and a plurality of flexible blades adapted to deform elastically to ensure the contact and transmission of the welding current from said fixed distributor body a said rotating shaft. Said flexible blades each comprise a first and second end, where each first end protrudes axially from said bush and each second end is free, so as to be cantilevered with respect to said bush to elastically clamp said rotating shaft.

Method for producing welded connections and an auxiliary device

Producing welded connections between inner tubes and tube support plates of a tube bundle for a product-to-product shell-and-tube heat exchanger by means of an auxiliary device is described. A production method includes pressing the end face of a tube support plate against the end face of the inner tubes in the direction of the inner tube longitudinal axes during welding operations with a first form fit, which is effective both radially and axially, immovably fixing the number of inner tubes corresponding to the tube layout pattern to each other by a second, detachable form fit of the auxiliary device, making a circumferential round weld orbitally, starting from the plate inner bore and the tube inner bore, in a single pass and continuously from radially inside to radially outside, and detaching and removing the auxiliary device from the welded tube bundle.
