Arc Start Adjustment Device, Welding System and Arc Start Adjustment Method
An arc start adjustment device adjusting an arc start procedure in a welding process comprises an obtainment unit that obtains welding data indicating a welding state during or after a welding process, and a procedure adjustment unit that adjusts the arc start procedure such that the cycle time of the welding process is shortened based on welding data obtained by the obtainment unit.
ELECTRODE METAL PREHEATING FOR ARC START IMPROVEMENT
A system and method for submerged arc welding. The system advances a consumable welding electrode toward a workpiece, and then stops the advancement when the consumable electrode makes contact with the workpiece. The system provides a preheating current level through the consumable welding electrode proximate the workpiece while the consumable welding electrode is in contact with the workpiece during a preheating period of time to preheat the portion of the consumable welding electrode without establishing an arc. The system then retracts the consumable welding electrode from the workpiece and increases the preheating current level to a welding current level over an arc establishment period of time to establish an arc between the consumable welding electrode and the workpiece. The system then begins to form a weld by advancing the consumable welding electrode toward the workpiece again, resulting in melting the consumable welding electrode and depositing molten metal onto the workpiece.

WELDING METHOD AND DEVICE
A TIG welding device (10) includes a welding robot (11), robot control device (12), welding torch (13), welding control device (14), gas feeder (15), and a height detection device (16). The welding torch (13) is set at a reference position, and the height detection device (16) detects the respective heights of two tip parts (4e). The robot control device (12) drives the welding robot (11) such that a torch electrode (13c) of the welding torch (13) abuts on central part of the higher tip part (4e). When the torch electrode (13c) is moved toward the reference position while power is supplied to the torch electrode (13c), and inert gas flows in the periphery of the torch electrode (13c), arc (AC) is generated in a gap between the tip parts (4e) and the torch electrode (13c). The overall two tip parts (4e) are melted and welded by this arc (AC).
Arc welding control method
There is provided an arc welding control method of performing a forward/reverse feeding control of alternating a feeding rate of a welding wire between a forward feeding period and a reverse feeding period, and generating short-circuiting periods and arc periods to perform welding. The welding wire is fed forwardly at a time of staring the welding. The forward/reverse feeding control is started from the reverse feeding period of the welding wire after starting conduction of a welding current.
Welding type power supply with output rectifier and phase shift double forward converter
A method and apparatus for providing welding type power includes a phase shifted double forward converter having a first and second converter with a controller and an output rectifier. The output rectifier has at least one cathode current path that creates a cathode magnetic field when current flows in the cathode current path. The output rectifier also has at least one anode current path that creates an anode magnetic field when current flows in the anode current path. The cathode current path is disposed and oriented and the anode current path is disposed and oriented such that the cathode magnetic field acts to at least partially cancel the anode magnetic field.
Shape Memory Alloy Starter for a Plasma Cutting Torch or Welder
A plasma arc torch comprises an electrode, a tip, and a shape memory alloy (SMA) starter. The electrode and the tip that are aligned concentrically with a gap therebetween. The electrode is adapted for electrical connection to a cathodic side of a power supply and the tip is adapted for electrical connection to an anodic side of the power supply during piloting. The SMA starter comprises a SMA starter element disposed between the electrode and the tip and is configured deform when heated. A deformation of the SMA starter element draws a pilot arc that extends at least partially through the gap between the electrode and the tip.
DUAL WIRE WELDING OR ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING SYSTEM AND METHOD
A welding or additive manufacturing system includes a contact tip assembly having first and second exit orifices. A wire feeder is configured to deliver a first and second wire electrodes through the exit orifices. An arc generation power supply is configured to output a current waveform to the wire electrodes simultaneously, through the contact tip assembly. The current waveform includes a bridging current portion, and a background current portion having a lower current level than the bridging current portion. The bridging current portion has a current level sufficient to form a bridge droplet between the wire electrodes before the bridge droplet is transferred to a molten puddle during a deposition operation. Solid portions of the wire electrodes do not contact each other during the deposition operation. The bridge droplet is transferred to the molten puddle during a short circuit event between the molten puddle and the wire electrodes.
Method and apparatus for welding with improved start
A method and apparatus for starting a wire fed weld operation includes monitoring at least one of a prior run-in time, a prior run in distance, a prior run in wire feed speed, and/or whether or not there is contact at the time of a prior start. Then the wire position is controlled for a present weld operation in response to the monitored data.
SYSTEM FOR TIG SHIELDING GAS PREFLOW, POSTFLOW, AND ARC STARTING
A welding-type system for gas tungsten arc welding including control circuitry to control the initiation of a welding arc and the preflow and postflow of inert shielding gas based on sensed voltages.
