CONTAINER WITH INTEGRATED INDICATOR
20200095087 · 2020-03-26 ·

A warning on an amount of welding wire remaining in a package can be implemented with an indicator system integrated within the package. The indicator system a visual indication on the amount of wire remaining. The visual indication is updated as the wire is dispensed during a welding operation. The indicator system includes one or more sensing elements that engage the welding wire at various locations. When the wire is dispensed, the sensing elements eventually lose engagement and output a corresponding signal. The visual indication is updated based on the signals from the sensing elements.

Welding apparatus with automated welding retraction

A method providing a welding apparatus configured to supply a welding wire to a welding gun and a welding system implementing the same is described. The welding gun has a trigger and an opening where the welding wire extends when the trigger is activated. The method also has a computer with a user interface that includes an automatic wire retract program, the program dynamically adjusting the amount of welding wire retraction based at least upon one of the following: welding are current, welding wire size, welding wire speed and burnback time. The program monitors the welding gun and determines when the trigger is disabled. The program indicates when a first condition is satisfied and retracts the welding wire so the welding wire preferably does not extend (or minimally extendsor may be at least partially recessed within the tip) from the opening of the welding gun nozzle tip. The system and method also includes an ability to stop advancement or retraction of the wire to prevent damage.

Metal wire feeding system

Provided are a systems and methods for continuously providing a metal wire to a welding torch for manufacturing objects by solid freeform fabrication to provide continuous deposition of metal to the freeform object, especially objects made with titanium or titanium alloy wire.

SYSTEM AND METHOD TO CONTROL TWO WIRE FEED MOTORS
20200030905 · 2020-01-30 ·

A system for controlling multiple wire feed motors for use in a welding-type system including a push motor controlled to operate at a target wire feed speed and a pull motor disposed in a welding torch controlled to apply a target torque to the fed welding wire. Such a system eliminates shaving and bird nesting of welding wire.

Portable Arc Welder

In embodiments, a welding apparatus includes an automated wire feed mechanism to output wire at a wire feed rate, where the wire is to provide a welding arc to a weld site. The wire feed rate is based at least in part on selected power to be provided to the weld site. Additional embodiments are described and claimed.

REMOVABLE WELDING WIRE SPOOL ARRANGEMENT FOR WELDING APPLICATIONS
20190344372 · 2019-11-14 ·

A transportable spool carrier includes a spool hub configured to receive a welding wire spool thereon. A handle is disposed a distance above the spool hub greater than the radial size of the spool hub such that the welding wire spool is transportable via the transportable spool carrier. The handle is vertically aligned with the longitudinal center portion of the spool hub axis to align the handle with a center of gravity of the welding wire spool when the welding wire spool is coupled to the transportable spool carrier. The transportable spool carrier may include two spaced feet configured to support the welding wire spool on a surface when the transportable spool carrier is decoupled from the frame. The spool hub may include an expandable cylinder that, when radially expanded the welding wire spool is locked to the spool hub.

WIRE FEEDING SYSTEM AND WELDING SYSTEM
20190314921 · 2019-10-17 ·

A wire feeding system includes a first feeder provided with a first feeding motor that feeds a wire in a wire feeding direction, a second feeder spaced apart from the first feeder in the wire feeding direction and provided with a second feeding motor that feeds the wire in the wire feeding direction, and a controller that controls the rotation speed of the first feeding motor based on a first speed command and controls the rotation speed of the second feeding motor based on a second speed command. The controller gradually changes the second speed command over time when an amount of change of the second speed command is not within a predetermined range.

STRAP GUIDE AND PAIL PACK HAVING THE SAME
20190263585 · 2019-08-29 ·

Provided is a strap guide including: a first module including a first base, a strap boss formed on the first base and including a first slot through which a strap passes, and at least one protrusion accommodation part located at an outer circumferential portion of the strap boss and including a bore; and a second module having a second base, a second slot formed in the second base, and at least one coupling protrusion located at an outer circumferential portion of the second slot and configured to form a pair with the protrusion accommodation part, wherein the first module and the second module are coupled to form an opening having a single closed surface.

Wire Feeder with Automatically Adjustable Wire Clamping Force
20190255644 · 2019-08-22 ·

A wire feeder for a welding system has an automatically generated clamping force on welding wire. The wire feeder includes a drivestand having a lower feed roll. An upper feed roll is positionable adjacent to the lower roll, the upper and lower rolls being configured to receive a wire therebetween. A motor includes an output motor shaft, the lower roll being connected to the output motor shaft. A connecting arm is attached to the upper roll, and attached to the drivestand at a first end. An arm is attached to the connecting arm at a second end, and coupled to the motor. The arm and the connecting arm draw the upper roll towards the lower roll in response to a torque applied by the motor, such that the upper and lower rolls generate a clamping force for the wire, the clamping force being proportional to a torque of the motor.
