The torch includes a delivery way suited to convey a cooling fluid towards the first terminal zone and a return way for the cooling fluid coming from the terminal zone. One of the delivery way and the return way passes through the first body and the second body. It includes a tubular element made of an electrically insulating material having a first end inserted in a seat provided in the first body and a second end inserted in a seat provided in the second body.

The torch insulator includes (i) a first liquid coolant channel, disposed within the insulator body, configured to conduct a fluid flow from the torch head into a consumable cartridge along a first preexisting flow path, (ii) a first liquid return channel, disposed within the insulator body, configured to return at least a portion of the fluid flow from the cartridge to the torch head along the first preexisting flow path, and (iii) a gas channel, disposed within the insulator body, configured to conduct a first gas flow from the torch head to the cartridge along a second preexisting flow path. The first and second preexisting flow paths are fluidly isolated from each other.

The coolant passage first, second, third, and fourth passages. A coolant flows from the first passage through the second passage and the third passage to the fourth passage. At least a part of the convex portion is arranged in the center pipe. The inner surface of the center pipe includes a first inclined surface having a diameter that decreases toward a distal direction. The distal direction is a direction extending from the second pipe end to the first pipe end. The first inclined surface extends toward the root portion of the convex portion.

A torch for performing TIG welding is disclosed. In accordance with at least one embodiment of the present invention, the torch includes a torch body having a cavity configured to receive and support an electrode assembly, a first shield gas channel, and a second shield gas channel. The first shield gas channel extends from an external surface of the torch body to a first plenum that is fluidly coupled to the cavity so that the first shield gas channel is configured to direct a first shield gas into the cavity. The first plenum is defined, at least in part, by the cavity and is disposed radially exterior of a portion of the electrode assembly. The second shield gas channel is configured to direct a second shield gas to exit the torch body along a path that that is radially exterior of the cavity.

A jacketed consumable cartridge is provided for a liquid cooled plasma arc torch. The jacketed consumable cartridge comprises an electrode, a swirl ring securely affixed to and disposed circumferentially about a distal end of the electrode, and a nozzle securely affixed to the swirl ring, the nozzle disposed circumferentially about the distal end of the electrode with a portion of the swirl ring located therebetween. The cartridge also comprises a cartridge jacket securely affixed to and disposed circumferentially about a distal end of the nozzle and a shield securely affixed to and disposed circumferentially about a distal end of the cartridge jacket. A proximal end of the cartridge jacket is adapted to extend (i) axially past a proximal end of the shield and (ii) radially beyond a radial extent of the shield.
