DIODE LASER FIBER ARRAY FOR CONTOUR OF POWDER BED FABRICATION OR REPAIR
A method of forming a build in a powder bed includes providing a first diode laser fiber array and a second diode laser fiber array, emitting a plurality of laser beams from selected fibers of the second diode laser fiber array onto the powder bed, corresponding to a pattern of a layer of the build, simultaneously melting powder in the powder bed corresponding to the pattern of the layer of the build, scanning a first diode laser fiber array along an outer boundary of the powder bed and emitting a plurality of laser beams from selected fibers of the first diode laser fiber array and simultaneously melting powder in the powder bed corresponding to the outer boundary of the layer of the build to contour the layer of the build. An apparatus for forming a build in a powder bed including a first diode laser fiber array and a second diode laser fiber array is also disclosed. The first diode laser fiber array configured to contour the layer of the build.
Valve Needle For A Fluid Injection Valve
The present disclosure relates to fluid injection valves. Embodiments of the teachings thereof may include a valve needle for a fluid injection valve and a fluid injection valve. For example, a valve needle for a fluid injection valve may include: a needle shaft; and a sealing ball welded to a tip of the needle shaft. The welded joint between the sealing ball and the needle shaft comprises at least two separate weld seams extending along a perimeter of the valve needle in the form of c-shaped arcs.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR ETCHING PATTERNS INSIDE OBJECTS
Systems and methods for etching complex patterns on an interior surface of a hollow object are disclosed. A method generally includes positioning a laser system within the hollow object with a focal point of the laser focused on the interior surface, and operating the laser system to form the complex pattern on the interior surface. Motion of the laser system and the hollow object is controlled by a motion control system configured to provide rotation and/or translation about a longitudinal axis of one or both of the hollow object and the laser system based on the complex pattern, and change a positional relationship between a reflector and a focusing lens of the laser system to accommodate a change in distance between the reflector and the interior surface of the hollow object.
SYSTEM FOR LASER TREATING A PIPE SURFACE
A laser cleaning system for laser treating a pipe surface includes a frame mountable to an outer circumference of a cylindrical pipe, a plurality of circumferential guide supports mounted to the frame and engageable with the outer circumference of the pipe, and a laser mounted to the frame to generate a laser beam directed toward an exterior surface of the pipe. The frame is movable about the outer circumference of the pipe on the plurality of circumferential guide supports to scan the laser beam circumferentially across the exterior surface.
Optical fiber cable with crush resistant, kink resistant buffer tube
A crush resistant, kink resistant optical cable including crush resistant, kink resistant optical fiber buffer tubes and systems and method for making the same are provided. The buffer tubes include a depression pattern formed along the outer surface of the buffer tube. The depression pattern provides areas of decreased thickness in the buffer tube facilitating flexibility and kink resistance. The system and method relates to laser ablation for forming the depression pattern in the buffer tube.
Device for connecting the ends of pipes made of steel by means of an orbital welding process
A device for connecting the ends of pipes, which are aligned, tack-welded and made of steel, by an orbital welding process using a welding joint formed by the pipe ends and using tools which can be orbitally moved about the welding joint for welding and checking the seam. The device includes guide base plates placed on both sides at each pipe end in the region of the welding joint and rigidly clamped to the pipe ends. The guide base plates centrally have a circular recess with a radial opening for the feed-through of the pipes to be welded. The guide base plates include clamping elements rigidly connected to each guide base plate face facing away from the welding joint, and a frame for receiving the welding and checking tools, the frame rotatably mounted between the guide base plates and centrally pivotal about the pipe ends by at least 360.
Laser welding device
A laser welding device is configured to switch an irradiation position of a measurement beam between a position of a keyhole coaxial with the optical axis of a laser beam and a position of a weld bead behind the center of an optical axis of the laser beam in a welding direction. The laser welding device determines whether there is a gap between an upper metal plate and a lower metal plate based on a measured value of a recess depth measured at the position of the weld bead.
DMLS orthopedic intramedullary device and method of manufacture
An orthopedic device, such as an intramedullary nail for internal fixation of a bone and a method of manufacturing the same. The orthopedic device may be formed from a medical grade powder via an additive manufacturing process. The forming process may include heat treating the additive manufactured component and machining the heat treated additive manufactured component to form the orthopedic device. Further, the orthopedic device may be formed to include an internal sensor probe channel that extends within at least a portion of the wall of the device, but which does not protrude through an outer portion of the wall. Embodiments further include a dynamizing intramedullary nail that accommodate adjustments in the relative axial positions of one or more sections of the orthopedic device. The devise may include features in an inner region of the orthopedic device that may alter an elastic modulus of the orthopedic device.
Methods and apparatuses for fabricating glass articles
Methods of fabricating formed glass articles are described herein. In one embodiment, a method for fabricating a formed glass article may include forming a glass ribbon, forming a parison, and shaping the parison to form a glass article. The glass article may be attached to the glass ribbon at an attachment region defining an edge of the glass article. The process may also include contacting the attachment region with a focal line of a laser beam and separating the glass article from the glass ribbon at the attachment region. The attachment region may be perforated by the laser beam and the focal line may be substantially perpendicular to the plane of the glass ribbon.
System for mounting a tractor unit on a guide track
A mounting mechanism for connecting a tractor unit to a guide track, the mounting mechanism includes a fixed block having a first set of rolling devices and a movable plate having a second set of rolling devices. The distance between the first and second sets of rolling devices is adjustable by moving the movable plate to engage or disengage the tractor unit to the guide track. A clamping assembly is provided with a shaft, cam spring, and cam handle for adjusting the distance between the first and second rolling devices. When the cam handle is in an open position, the distance between the rolling devices is greater than the width of the guide track and when the cam handle is in a closed position the distance between the rolling devices is approximately equal to the width of the guide track.
