A portable dog recreation device (10) for indoor and outdoor use by pet owners to leash their dog to the device so the dog can comfortably move about 360° tangled free within a defined area. The device has a base (12) so weighted that a dog tethered to it cannot move it about while a person can readily move it from one place to another using a handle (32). A post (20) is attached to and extends from the top of the base. The post may be integrally formed with the base or may be a separate piece. The outer diameter of the post is such that one end of a dog leash can be slipped over or tied about the post to tether the dog to the device. More than one dog can be tethered to the post at the same time.

Animal constraint systems may include at least one track suitably configured for mounting on the anchoring structure, the at least one track having a track interior. A track slot may be provided in the at least one track. The track slot may communicate with the track interior. A carriage may be disposed for linear movement in the track interior of the track and protrude from the track interior through the track slot. The carriage may include a carriage frame. At least one carriage roller may be rotatably carried by the carriage frame and disposed in the track interior of the track. A tether line may be connected to the carriage frame. The tether configured for connection to the animal via a collar, harness or the like.

Animal constraint systems may include at least one track suitably configured for mounting on the anchoring structure, the at least one track having a track interior. A track slot may be provided in the at least one track. The track slot may communicate with the track interior. A carriage may be disposed for linear movement in the track interior of the track and protrude from the track interior through the track slot. The carriage may include a carriage frame. A dog run assembly for preventing tangling of leads includes a pair of bars, a pair of lines, a pair of connectors, and a pair of fasteners. Each line is engaged to and extends between the bars. Each connector is rotationally engaged to a respective bar and can engage a respective vertical support element of a pair of vertical support elements so that the pair of lines is suspended between the vertical support elements. Each fastener is slidably engaged to a respective line so that the fastener is slidable between the bars. The fastener can engage a respective lead attached to an associated animal. The pair of bars rotates as a pair of animals tethered singly to the lines travel in opposing directions relative to the pair of lines. The lines and the leads attached to the animals remain untangled.

A dog run assembly for preventing tangling of leads includes a pair of bars, a pair of lines, a pair of connectors, and a pair of fasteners. Each line is engaged to and extends between the bars. Each connector is rotationally engaged to a respective bar and can engage a respective vertical support element of a pair of vertical support elements so that the pair of lines is suspended between the vertical support elements. Each fastener is slidably engaged to a respective line so that the fastener is slidable between the bars. The fastener can engage a respective lead attached to an associated animal. The pair of bars rotates as a pair of animals tethered singly to the lines travel in opposing directions relative to the pair of lines. The lines and the leads attached to the animals remain untangled.

The present invention provides a single point restraining system for pets. The system is designed to be used with an automotive safety belt restraining system. A first end of the system is a housing having tensioning components therein with the housing having a standard male seat belt connector. An extendable and retractable belt is anchored within the housing, the belt having a connecting end formed by looping a length of material around a male connector. A retraction limiting component is attached to the connecting end of the belt to prevent damage thereto. The housing can be attached to a seat belt receiver and the belt may have a collar attachment for connection to a pet collar.

An animal tether system and method wherein the rate of extension and retraction of the tether and/or the length of the tether can be actively controlled at least in part as a function of the angular direction and/or speed and/or length of which the tether extends/retracts. The system can be used to maintain an animal in a non-circular boundary, such as a rectangular space, by controlling how far the tether can extend at certain angular positions. The system also allows a user to block off certain areas within a space from access by the animal.
