A welding support block supports, from the rear surface of a joint to be welded, a weld pool created during a welding process. The welding support block comprises a block of metal and an outer layer of ceramic material providing a supporting surface. The ceramic material layer has a thickness between 0.25 mm and 1.5 mm. The metal material immediately beneath the ceramic material layer is made of steel. An internal line-up clamp for holding pipes in end-to-end alignment ready for welding may include multiple such welding support blocks. The use of such welding support blocks is particularly useful when laying a sour service carrying pipeline (high H.sub.2S content).

Rotating welding system and methods

A field system for welding two pipes includes a first pipe engagement structure, a second pipe engagement structure, one or more weld torches, a motor and one or more processors. The one or more weld torches are configured to be positioned within the pipes to create an internal weld at an interface region between the pipes. The motor is operatively associated with the one or more weld torches to rotate the one or more weld torch along the interface region between the pipes. The one or more processors control the motor and the one or more weld torches. The one or more processors operate the motor and the one or more weld torches to generate a complete circumferential weld along the interface region by rotating the one or more weld torches along the interface region in a single rotational direction until the complete circumferential weld is completed.

Clip for retaining components for welding

A retention clip used to retain workpieces during welding includes a spacer that extends along an axis and a plurality of first and second spring members positioned on opposite sides of the axis. The first spring members may be spaced apart from each other along the axis and configured to constrain a portion of a first workpiece between the first spring members and the spacer. And, the second spring members may be spaced apart from each other along the axis and configured to constrain a portion of a second workpiece between the second spring members and the spacer.

CLIP FOR RETAINING COMPONENTS FOR WELDING

A retention clip used to retain workpieces during welding includes a spacer that extends along an axis and a plurality of first and second spring members positioned on opposite sides of the axis. The first spring members may be spaced apart from each other along the axis and configured to constrain a portion of a first workpiece between the first spring members and the spacer. And, the second spring members may be spaced apart from each other along the axis and configured to constrain a portion of a second workpiece between the second spring members and the spacer.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR LINED PIPE WELDING

The invention in one aspect provides a joining sleeve configured to connect internal liners of two internally lined pipe sections across a welded pipe section joint and a method of use. The joining sleeve comprises a sleeve body having a first end and a second end, the first and second ends configured to couple with opposing ends of first and second internal liners respectively. A collar is disposed around the outer surface of the sleeve body, the collar having a first retracted condition in which it has a first outer diameter, and a second expanded condition in which it has a second outer diameter, larger than the first outer diameter.

Present invention relates to a rotary positioner that allows a welding table's work surface to be set at an angle as desired by a user. Two vertical frames can move and slide along the length of a chassis-bar to adjust the distance between the two vertical frames. As long as the length of a welding table does not exceed the total greatest distance between the two vertical frames, the present invention can fit any work table or welding table. Caster wheels and height adjustment knobs allow for easy movement and balancing of the rotary positioner.

Internal clamping of a weld-neck fitting to a pipe in preparation for precision tack welding of the fitting to the pipe is established by a pair of alignment and clamping wedge members, each having alignment and gripping members and angulated reaction surfaces which are positioned within the pipe and weld-neck fitting with the angulated reaction surfaces in relatively moveable engagement. One of the alignment and clamping wedge members is moved linearly, causing the angulated reaction surfaces to translate the linear movement to lateral movement, forcing the alignment and gripping members laterally against the internal surfaces of the pipe and fitting and supporting the fitting in precision aligned relation with the pipe to facilitate tack welding. A gauge member confirms precision alignment of the fitting with the pipe before and after applying the tack welds, then the alignment and clamping apparatus is loosened by opposite linear movement of the wedge members which are removed to permit final weld connection of the fitting to the pipe.

Pipe Facing Machine System

A pipe facing machine (PFM) system includes a PFM and a hydraulic power source having a single hydraulic pump arranged to provide a hydraulic oil flow to the PFM via single hydraulic circuit. The PFM includes a body defining an axis and a cutting head arranged to rotate and translate relative to the axis. Drive systems are arranged to drive clamping of the PFM on a workpiece, rotation of the cutting head about the axis, and translation of the cutting head along the axis. A hydraulic controller includes a plurality of control elements and hydraulically connects the drive systems. The hydraulic controller is arranged to direct and regulate hydraulic oil flow between the drive systems and the hydraulic controller based on signals from the control elements and a computer control system.

A roll-out wheel has a base housing secured to a working surface. A rolling arm having a lever end and a working end pivots about a hinge point in the housing. A hand wheel and a pipe chuck are rotatably attached to the working end by a rolling sleeve. A pipe to be welded is securable on the pipe chuck and rotatable in unison with the hand wheel. Rotation of the hand wheel permits welding about the perimeter of the pipe without moving the welding tool. A clamping mechanism can permit or prevent rotation of the hand wheel. A pivoting mechanism can raise or lower the working end.
