Bolt tensioning system
10252405 · 2019-04-09 · ·

Embodiments disclosed herein generally relate to a system and method for tensioning a bolt. The bolt tensioning system may be used with variable length connection members, for example studs, in any one or more of the drilling, subsea, and process industries to couple a first member to a second member. The bolt tensioning system may remain coupled to the first member and the second member, while applying tension to all of the bolts at the same time, rather than having to torque or tension each bolt individually. The bolt system may accurately and uniformly tension all bolts in a single operation to provide reliable connections.

Rod tensioning device and assembly process of such a device on a rod

The invention concerns a rod tensioning device having a first actuator, at least a second actuator and a tubular support sleeve dedicated to radially surround a threaded rod. Each of the actuators provides a cylinder, and a piston sliding in the cylinder and forming with the cylinder an annular chamber dedicated to be supplied with pressurized fluid. According to the invention, the at least second actuator is temporary axially arranged between the first actuator and the tubular support sleeve for a temporary blockwise assembly, the pistons of two axially adjacent actuators being indexed in rotation together.

Tensioning device for extending a threaded bolt
10239194 · 2019-03-26 ·

A tensioning device for a thread end portion of a bolt has a cylindrical housing and a piston, moveable in longitudinal direction therein and connectable to a hydraulic supply. An interchangeable sleeve extends centrally through the piston. At its end it has an internal thread with engagement length to be screwed onto the thread end portion. The sleeve has a radially expanded portion carried axially by a carrier face of the piston. In order to prevent the sleeve from prematurely contacting the threaded bolt when mounting the bolt tensioning cylinder and prevent damage to the threads, the sleeve is moveable longitudinally relative to the piston. The longitudinal sleeve travel is defined by the carrier face as first longitudinal stop and by a second longitudinal stop. The longitudinal sleeve travel is at least equal to, preferably greater, than the engagement length of the internal thread of the sleeve.

The present invention relates to a multi jackbolt tensioner and methods of using the same. The present invention alleviates some of the problems associated with presently available multi jackbolt tensioners.

Method for the Documented Tightening or Tightening Up of a Screw Connection
20190061075 · 2019-02-28 ·

In a method for the documented tightening or tightening up of a heavily loaded screw connection of a threaded bolt and a nut screwed on the threaded bolt by using an axially operating tensioning device and a process control unit provided with a documentation module, the screw connection is identified by scanning an identification provided on the screw connection and data determined by scanning the identification is stored in the documentation module. The screw connection is lengthened by the tensioning device by axially pulling on a threaded end of the threaded bolt and a tightening force (F.sub.A) and/or a tightening pressure (P.sub.A) exerted by axially pulling on the threaded end is stored in the documentation module. After lengthening, the nut is turned by using a hand torque wrench and an actually exerted hand torque applied for turning the nut is stored in the documentation module.
