Aircraft wing repair systems and methods
A wing skin, which was secured to a wing structure by a plurality of fasteners extending through the wing skin, is removed from the wing and aligned with a template. Template holes are drilled through the template corresponding to each of the fastener holes of the wing skin. The template is then aligned with a new wing skin, and pilot holes are drilled through the new wing skin corresponding to each of the template holes. The new wing skin is then aligned with the wing structure such that the pilot holes permit access to corresponding fastener holes of the wing structure. A mill bit is then positioned through each pilot hole and aligned with the center of the corresponding consumable bushing in the fastener hole of the wing sub-structure, and the skin pilot holes are milled to form fastener holes in the new wing skin aligned with existing sub-structure.
CRASH RESISTANT TRIP FOR A PIPE MACHINING APPARATUS
A pipe machining apparatus includes a frame, a tool support, an advancement device, and an advancement member. The tool support is coupled to and movable relative to the frame. The tool support is adapted to support a tool and move the tool in a direction toward a pipe at an increment. The advancement device includes an advancement projection fixedly attached to the frame. The advancement projection includes a contact-surface. The advancement member is coupled to the tool support. Upon the advancement member contacting the contact-surface of the advancement projection the advancement member is adapted to advance the tool towards the pipe at the increment. The contact-surface of the advancement projection is shaped to always be in a non-perpendicular contact position with the advancement member.
MACHINING DEVICE AND METHOD FOR REPAIRING AN ANNULAR WORKPIECE
A machining device for machining an annular workpiece, in particular a turbomachine, wherein the machining device includes an attachment system for removably attaching the machining device to the workpiece; a machining tool for machining at least one region to be machined of the workpiece; a carriage for conveying the machining tool; and a rail shaped so as to guide the conveying carriage in translation along the region to be machined of the workpiece.
