METHOD FOR CORRECTING A POSITION OF A TIP OF A MACHINE TOOL
A machine tool includes a mounting table, a tool, a shade detector, and a tool controller. A workpiece is placed on the mounting table. The tool includes a tip. The shade detector is fixed on the mounting table, provides an optical path of a laser light, and detects a shade state of the laser light. The tool controller is connected to the mounting table via a supporting structure and controls an orientation and a position of the tool. A reference point associated with the tool is provided to the tool controller. The tool controller corrects a position of the tip based on a difference between a position obtained by calculation of the reference point in the case where the tip is matched with a measurement position P of a laser light and a position of the reference point when the tip portion is actually matched with a measurement position while keeping the orientation of a tool.
Airflow and illumination system for a table saw
An airflow management system for a table saw includes an elongated hollow member and a dust cap. The elongated hollow member includes a first prong and a second prong, the first and second prongs being configured to be positioned adjacent a saw blade on opposite sides of a saw blade plane in which the saw blade is positioned. The first and second prongs define an opening and a partially enclosed space, in which an airflow channel is defined, therebetween. The dust cap is attached to the elongated hollow member and includes a hose connection fluidly connected to the airflow channel of the elongated hollow member and configured to connect to a vacuum source to pull air from the airflow channel through the hose connection.
METHOD OF USING LASER LINE GENERATOR TOOL OF A PIPE MACHINING APPARATUS
A method of using a pipe machining apparatus according to an aspect includes providing a frame capable of being mounted onto a pipe, a tool carrier coupled to and movable relative to the frame, a tool support coupled to and movable with the tool carrier relative to the frame, and a laser line generator tool mounted on and movable with the tool support. The laser line generator tool images a laser light onto the pipe to align with a mark(s) on the pipe which denotes a proper cut line around the pipe. The apparatus can be repositioned relative to the pipe in order to enable an operator to properly position the apparatus on the pipe prior to a cutting operation.

SYSTEM FOR PROCESSING A SLAB HAVING A TOP POLISHED FACE AND RELATED METHOD
A system processes a stone slab having a top polished face and bottom surface. An imaging device receives and displays a digital image of the top polished face of the slab. A controller overlays a slab cut layout on the digital image of the top polished face, generates a digital slab layout file containing digital data representative of the top polished face and its slab cut layout referenced to the top end of adhered reference markers, mirror images the digital slab layout file, and projects the mirror imaged locations of the reference markers to facilitate alignment of the bottom ends of the adhered laser markers with the respective projected reference marker locations when the slab is upside down for cutting in a slab cutting position.
MACHINE TOOL AND METHOD FOR CORRECTING A POSITION OF A TIP OF THE TOOL
A machine tool includes a mounting table, a tool, a shade detector, and a tool controller. A workpiece is placed on the mounting table. The tool includes a tip. The shade detector is fixed on the mounting table, provides an optical path of a laser light, and detects a shade state of the laser light. The tool controller is connected to the mounting table via a supporting structure and controls an orientation and a position of the tool. A reference point associated with the tool is provided to the tool controller. The tool controller corrects a position of the tip based on a difference between a position obtained by calculation of the reference point in the case where the tip is matched with a measurement position P of a laswer light and a position of the reference point when the tip portion is acutally matched with a measurement position while keeping the orientation of a tool.
Methods and apparatus for distance sensing used in combination with a linear actuator
A system and method for measuring a distance to a target work surface to precisely position a tool assembly coupled to an actuator. The method includes measuring a distance to a work surface using a distance sensor, moving the tool assembly into an approach position, the approach position being adjacent to a location on the work surface. The tool assembly is then moved from the approach position to the location on the work surface pursuant to a soft landing procedure. The soft landing procedure may include determining that the tool assembly has moved into soft contact with the target work surface. Methods also include topologically mapping a work surface, comparing map data to predefined data, and adjusting a positioning routine. Additionally, methods include optimizing actuator movements to timely measure distances from a distance sensor to a location on a work surface with minimal actuator movement.
