A handheld, portable knife sharpening device is provided. The knife sharpening device includes a body that accommodates at least one knife sharpening member. The body is interconnected to a rotatable leg that is used to selectively alter the lateral footprint of the device to make knife sharpening safer and more effective.

A grinder/polisher apparatus is disclosed, the apparatus comprising first and second sets of grinding elements (2, 3) facing each other under an angle () thus forming between the sets of grinding elements a V-groove in which the cutting edge of a knife is insertable for movement upon grinding, wherein the grinding elements are supported in holders (5, 6). The grinding elements (2, 3) are pivotally arranged in the holders (5, 6) about axes (R, R) the inclinations of which correspond with the opening angle () of the V-groove.

A cutting board with integrated knife sharpener includes an opening in the cutting board configured to integrate the knife sharpener. The knife sharpener has a first folded down storage position and a second upright operable position. In the first folded down position, the sharpener is substantially flush with the surface of the cutting board. In the second upright operable position, the sharpener extends upward from the board opening, thus allowing access to the blade receiving slot therein. A securing mechanism is cooperatively integrated into both the board opening and sharpener to secure the same in both the first folded storage and second upright operable positions.

A knife sharpener may comprise a main body, and a suction cup formed on a lower surface thereof is operated by an operating handle. By cooperating the main body with the operating handle and the suction cup, the knife sharpener is configured to easily adhere to a flat surface, which avoids a damage formed on the flat surface during the sharpening process. Moreover, since the knife sharpener comprises various sharpening units, it can be used to sharp different kinds of knives, even a scissors comprising a pair of blades, which greatly enhances the practicability thereof.

A knife block is described that includes a block body and a block insert that is coupled to the block body. The block insert includes a sharpening element holder and a cap attached to the sharpening element holder. The cap and the sharpening element holder have matching geometry. The cap or the sharpening element holder comprises one or more pins and the other of the cap or the sharpening element holder comprises a corresponding number of holes, such that the pins are received within the holes to align the cap and the sharpening element holder. The first sharpening element and a second sharpening element form a V-shape having a first sharpener angle that is greater than a first blade edge angle of the first knife.

A small and portable apparatus for sharpening the blades of a pair of scissors is provided according to the invention. The scissors sharpener comprises a main body; a vertically-oriented, stationary sharpening steel having opposed surfaces that is securely attached to the main body; a pivotable sharpening steel that rotates with respect to the main body; and a U-shaped return spring positioned between the main body and the pivotable sharpening steel. A user inserts a pair of scissors so that the inside surfaces of the two blades abut the opposed surfaces of the stationary sharpening steel for stable alignment, and closes the blades against the pivotable sharpening steel to cause it to travel along the blade cutting edges to sharpen them. When the scissors blades are disengaged from the scissors sharpening apparatus, the return spring will bias the pivotable sharpening steel back to its standby position.

A portable tool sharpener adapted for mounting on a rail such as may be found on various weapons includes a sharpener body in which a plurality of sharpening tools are mounted and a rail-mounting base pivotally mounted to the sharpener body to allow the body to moved selectively to a closed and open position, wherein the rail-mounting base is releasably engageable with a rail mounted on a weapon, a handle or a fixed pad.

A knife sharpening device has a holder that has a slot for receiving a blade of a circular knife. At least one sharpening rod is pivotally mounted on the holder against the force of a spring. At least one first sharpening insert is arranged on the sharpening rod. The slot extends eccentrically into the holder transversely to a longitudinal axis of the holder. At least one additional sharpening insert is positioned on an outer side of the holder.

Knife sharpener systems and methods are provided. In one exemplary embodiment, a knife sharpening system can include a support structure configured to hold a knife having a handle and a blade extending therefrom, and a carriage assembly mounted on the support structure. The carriage assembly can have a sharpening element that is configured to sharpen a cutting edge of the blade. The carriage assembly can be movable relative to the knife blade to cause the sharpening element to apply a force to the cutting edge of the knife blade.

A knife block may include a block body with a recessed portion and a block insert positioned at least partially within the recessed portion. The block insert may include a first knife slot and a second knife slot. The knife block may include a first knife sharpener coupled to the block insert, where the first knife slot is sized such that a first knife is sharpened by the first knife sharpener each time the first knife is removed from the first knife slot, and a second knife sharpener coupled to the block insert, where the second knife slot is sized such that a second knife is sharpened by the second knife sharpener each time the second knife is removed from the second knife slot. The knife block may include a first knife storage slot and a second knife storage slot.
