FIXTURE FOR THIN-WALLED WORKPIECE
20190118318 · 2019-04-25 ·

A fixture for a thin-walled workpiece includes two clamping devices. Each of the clamping devices has a metal carrier and a damper. The metal carrier has a carrying portion and a supporting portion, where the supporting portion has a stair portion having a plane surface and a standing surface with a slope. The damper has a metal clamping portion and a damping portion. One end of the metal clamping portion is formed as an inclined surface. The damping portion has at least two elastic layers and at least one metal layer, which are laminated in an interlacing arrangement with the same slope of the inclined surface. One of the elastic layers is disposed to connect the inclined surface. The end of the metal clamping portion connecting the elastic layer is located on the stair portion, while the opposite end of the metal clamping portion protrudes out of the supporting portion.

Hold-down clamping apparatus

A hold-down clamping apparatus comprising a hold-down clamp with body having a top lip and pair of guide legs disposed between a central screw in the body and a support having holes in vertical alignment with the legs and the screw for securing and holding down a sheet material for processing. The screw is threaded through the support screw hole as the legs are inserted within support holes until the top lips contacts the sheet material to hold down the material and to prevent twisting of the hold-down clamp. Supports with clamps may be fastened to tools or supports. In one embodiment, the support has a grid of holes for securing a plurality of materials with hold-down clamps. In another embodiment, the hold-down clamp comprises a top lip and a guide beam slotted in a support and secured.

U-JOINT TOOL SYSTEMS AND METHODS

A press tool employs a drive system that allows a first portion to be displaced relative to a second portion. A drive surface is supported by the second portion. A receiving member defines an engaging surface and a receiving cavity. The receiving member is supported by the first portion along a drive axis extending through the drive surface. Operation of the drive system displaces the drive surface relative to the receiving member.

Centering Fixture

I, Robert Thomas Wilson, being the inventor, have designed this Centering Fixture. This invention is described in enabling detail in the following example which may represent more than one embodiment of the present invention. The Centering Fixture is an accessory attachable to a milling machine vise, it centers similar pieces of material with dimensional variations. Machining processes often begin with cutting a number of pieces from larger stock. These cut pieces will vary due to accuracy limitations of the cutting method used. The Centering Fixture, incorporates two movable extensions that precisely move toward or away from one another at the same rate by rotating a leadscrew having a right-hand thread on one end and a left-hand thread on the other. Using this Centering Fixture material regardless of dimensional variations from one piece to the next are each individually centered aiding in accurate manufacturing. As an example, a cut piece 4.030 inches long would be set up with the 2.015-inch center position of that piece oriented as desired. If the next piece measured 4.120 inches long the Centering Fixture would automatically locate the center of that piece at the 2.060-inch position. This centering function would then repeat with all subsequent like pieces, in this example and in one embodiment. The Centering Fixture is portable allowing easy movement from one machine to the next.

Adapters for chain pipe vises

Adapters are described which enable a wide array of tools to be secured and/or mounted in a chain pipe vise. Also described are methods of using adapters with chain pipe vises in order to stably mount tools in the chain pipe vise.

Clamp Locking Mechanism

A clamp release mechanism is provided. The clamp includes a body, a shaft slideably coupled to the body, a fixed jaw, and a moveable jaw coupled to the shaft. A locking component actuates between a locked position and an unlocked position. When in the locked position, the locking component biases the shaft to remain stationary with respect to the body. The clamp includes a securing component pivotally coupled to the locking component, and a biasing element that biases the securing components towards the shaft.

VISE WITH MODULAR JAWS

A vise including a threaded shaft and a carriage threadably coupled to the shaft such that rotation of the shaft causes the carriage to move along an axis. The vise further includes an insert that is removably coupleable to said carriage, wherein one of the carriage or the insert includes a groove formed therein having a pair of parallel, spaced-apart side walls and defining the groove therebetween, or having a pair of side walls that do not diverge in a direction moving from an outer portion of the groove to a bottom thereof. The other one of the carriage or the insert includes a protrusion that is removably receivable in the groove in a direction generally perpendicular to the axis to thereby removably couple the insert to the carriage.
