The present disclosure provides an apparatus having a base with at least one guide formed along a length thereof. A fitting clamp and a tube clamp are coupled to the base and spaced apart from one another. A drive mechanism is operable for moving at least one clamp relative to the other clamp along the guide of the base so as to slidingly assemble a tube and fitting together.

The individual clamps are coupled to one another via a first mounted clamping lever and a second mounted clamping lever. The first clamping lever is connected to the inner first clamping jaw and to the outer first clamping jaw; the second clamping lever is connected to the inner second clamping jaw and to the outer second clamping jaw, and comprising a first spring which pushes apart the inner first clamping jaw and the outer first clamping jaw counter to force exerted by the first clamping lever, and a second spring, which pushes apart the inner second clamping jaw and the outer second clamping jaw counter to force exerted by the second clamping lever.

An improved vise adapter for use with existing industrial single stage vises. A rear fixed jaw adapter block is mounted on the rear fixed jaw of the vise, a front floating jaw adapter block is mounted on the front floating jaw of the vise, and a middle floating jaw is slidingly mounted therebetween on two pairs of guide shafts extending out from the rear fixed jaw adapter block. The front floating jaw adapter block also is slidingly mounted on the guide shafts. As a linear clamping force is applied in the direction of the fixed jaw of the vise, the adapter holds two workpieces instead of a single workpiece.
