20220024006 · 2022-01-27 ·

Methods and apparatus for a fastener head having a dual zone socket area and a mating driver bit according to aspects of the present technology include a fastener configured with driving surfaces adapted to provide enhanced engagement between each other during use. The fastener includes a recessed socket area with a sidewall that has an upper inwardly tapering section and a lower vertical section that extends to the bottom of the recessed socket area. The upper inwardly tapering section of the sidewall may also include an offset relative to the lower vertical section to create asymmetrical driving and removal surfaces. The technology also includes a corresponding mating driver bit configured with mating surfaces to the fastener to provide enhanced engagement between the fastener and mating driver bit. The technology also allows either the fastener or the driving bit to be used with preexisting fasteners and driver bits.

Tapered lobular driver and fastener

A torque transmission driver has a first end portion adapted to receive and transmit torque from a torque generation source, and a second end portion including a shaped tapered bit having drive surfaces with an alternating series of five or six lobes and troughs about a rotational axis, having a taper angle between 15 and 45° from the rotational axis operable to engage corresponding drive surfaces in a plurality of at least two size fasteners, the tapered drive surfaces of the bit comprising a first tapered portion operable to engage drive surfaces of a first sized fastener and a second tapered portion operable to engage drive surfaces of a second sized fastener, the drive surfaces of the second sized fastener being larger than the drive surfaces of the first sized fastener.

Lock, method for dismounting lock and method for mounting lock

A lock defining a rotating axis and being installed on a door includes a mounting plate, a fastening member and a first handle set. The mounting plate is disposed on a side of the door and includes a mounting plate body and a protruding lug connected to the mounting plate body. The mounting plate body includes a locking slot structure. The protruding lug includes a fastening hole. The fastening member is inserted through the fastening hole of the protruding lug to fix the mounting plate on the door. The first handle set is assembled on the mounting plate. The first handle set includes an engaging structure and a decoration cover. The engaging structure is engaged with the locking slot structure to fix the first handle set on the mounting plate. The decoration cover covers the mounting plate and includes an opening corresponding to the fastening hole.

Drive system with full surface drive contact

A drive system with full surface drive contact. The drive system tends to maximize the surface contact pattern or area at typical bit-recess reaction (drive) torque values, thereby tending to minimize bit-recess surface contact stresses, coating damage, recess ream and premature bit fatigue failure.

SCREW, SCREWDRIVER AND SCREW FASTENING SET

Screw, screwdriver and screw fastening set, the screwdriver (1) comprising a screw engaging configuration (10) with a core (11) surrounded by a number of protruding longitudinal ribs (12) elongated in the longitudinal driver axis (DA) direction and radially distributed around the core (11) in radial symmetry, and wherein successive transversal cross-sections of the core (11), perpendicular to the longitudinal driver axis (DA), have a regular polygonal shape, longitudinal cross-sections of the core (11), coincident with the longitudinal driver axis (DA), have a convex shape, and each protruding longitudinal rib (12) is connected to the core (11) on an edge between two adjacent arched convex surfaces of the core, a central portion (13) of each side of the regular polygonal shape being exposed for coupling into a complementary flat surface of a driver engaging configuration of the screw, providing friction-retention between the screw and the screwdriver.

Molds and punches for making fasteners and tools

A mold, punch and workpiece are provided. In a preferred embodiment, a tapering outer edge is provided, along with a plurality of rib sets arranged circumferentially about the outer edge, and a ramp. A ramp may be located to facilitate the removal of burrs. Various slot patterns may be provided or formed, including star-shapes/Torx® slots. Using the present invention, a driver bit may be more securely fit to the slot of a screw, for example, allowing the screw to be threaded into a machined part more securely and smoothly, reducing rocking, shaking or tilt.

A fastener includes a screw head and a screw shank. The screw head has a top surface and an inner surrounding surface. The inner surrounding surface has six curved portions and six driven portions disposed in an alternating arrangement. Each of the driven portions has a curved section connected to one of two adjacent curved portions and having a direction of curvature opposite to that of the one of the two adjacent curved portions, a straight section extending along a tangent line of an end of the curved section, and an extension section connected between the straight section and the other one of the two adjacent curved portions.

TOOL BIT

A tool bit including a drive portion having a first maximum outer dimension, a tip having a second maximum outer dimension, a shank extending between the drive portion and the tip, and a sleeve. The shank has a third maximum outer dimension that is less than first and second maximum outer dimensions. The sleeve extends from the drive portion to the tip and surrounds the shank. The sleeve engages a portion of the shank such that the sleeve is inhibited from moving relative to the shank.
