Interchangeable, debris insensitive and non-slipping reaction torque transfer system
11441593 · 2022-09-13 ·

Interchangeable reaction washer initially penetrates with outward bottom serration edges only during manual pre tightening. Slippage is thereby avoided at begin of the consecutive power torque wrench assisted full tightening of the nut and/or bolt head resting on it. As the load ramps up, the reaction washer flattens out and the bottom serrations gradually penetrate radially inwards. Reaction and actuation sockets of varying sizes matching a broad range of reaction washers and nut and/or bolt heads may be interchangeably snapped on a reaction coupling connected to the torque wrench housing. A clearance undercut underneath the reaction washer torque receiving flanges absorbs eventual debris to further assist unimpeded and fast coupling of the system. Radially oriented contact faces between reaction washer and reaction socket provide a snug contact unaffected by their toroidal movement during washer flattening and a force transfer free of radial force components.

Electric pulse tool

An electric pulse tool for performing tightening operations, where torque is delivered in pulses to tighten a screw joint, includes an output shaft, a sensor arranged to determine a parameter value associated with the tightening of the screw joint, a processor, and a memory containing instructions executable by the processor. The electrical pulse tool operates to provide torque pulses on the output shaft in a first direction until the determined parameter value associated with the tightening of the screw joint reaches within or above a predetermined first interval including a target parameter value. The electrical pulse tool also operates to provide at least one torque pulse on the output shaft in a second direction that is opposite to the first direction in case the determined parameter value exceeds the target parameter value within a predetermined second interval.

Method for Documented Tightening and Re-Tightening of a Screw Connection
20200238454 · 2020-07-30 ·

In a tightening method for a screw connection of a bolt and a nut by using a tensioning device, a rotary drive, and a process control unit with documentation module, the nut is tightened with the rotary drive by a tightening moment required for the nut to bear against a support. The screw connection is elongated by exerting axial tension on a threaded end of the bolt protruding from the nut. The nut is further tightened while maintaining elongation, and a rotation angle covered during further tightening is detected by a rotation angle sensor. Lengthening of the bolt is calculated from the rotation angle and thread geometry of the screw connection. A longitudinal force in the threaded bolt is calculated from lengthening of the bolt, bolt diameter and bolt length. The calculated longitudinal force and an identifier identifying the screw connection are stored in the documentation module.

Method for determining the magnitude of the output torque and a power wrench

A method of verifying a magnitude of a delivered output torque during a tightening operation of a threaded joint performed by a hand held power wrench including a housing, a motor, an output shaft, and a power transmission connecting the motor to the output shaft. The method includes: tightening the threaded joint; monitoring a magnitude of a direct torque acting along the power transmission during the tightening by at least one direct torque indicating sensor; monitoring a magnitude of a reaction torque transferred via the housing during the tightening by at least one reaction torque sensor; comparing the monitored magnitude of the direct torque with the monitored magnitude of the reaction torque; and determining, based on the comparison, whether the accuracy of the delivered output torque is acceptable.
