Clamp force estimation via pulsed tightening

A method for estimating a clamp force obtained at tightening of a screw joint via a torque pulse sequence includes applying a primary torque pulse to rotate the screw joint in a tightening direction, measuring a torque level obtained by the primary torque pulse, applying a secondary torque pulse to move the screw joint in a loosening direction, measuring a torque level obtained by the secondary torque pulse, and calculating a difference between the torque level obtained by the primary torque pulse and the torque level obtained by the secondary torque pulse. The obtained clamp force is estimated from the difference between the obtained torque levels.

METHOD FOR DETECTING IF A FASTENER IS ALREADY TIGHTENED

A method detects whether a fastener is already tightened using a tightening tool with a pulse mechanism. The method includes placing the tightening tool on the fastener, and accelerating rotational parts of the tightening tool. The rotational speed of the rotational parts is limited to a first rotational threshold value in revolutions per minute during an initial tightening phase, the first rotational threshold value being set to be in a range of 20% to 80% of a second rotational threshold value in revolutions per minute needed in a secondary tightening phase to provide a target fastening value for the fastener. And it is detected whether a pulse occurs during the initial tightening phase, the initial tightening phase being measured from a moment when the rotational parts are accelerated.

SCREWDRIVER

A screwdriver is connected to an electric power supply, and rotates a mounted bit to tighten a screw. The screwdriver includes a camera, an image information recording section, a basic information registration section, a determination section, and an LED unit. The camera captures the screw to be tightened or surroundings of a threaded hole in which the screw is to be tightened. The recording section records an image captured by the camera. The registration section registers beforehand image information, which has been acquired by capturing with the camera an image of the surroundings of the threaded hole, as basic information. The determination section determines whether or not new image information, which has been newly acquired by capturing an image of the surroundings of the threaded hole with the camera, coincides with the basic information. The LED unit notifies a result of determination by the determination section.

TOOL, TASK MANAGEMENT DEVICE, TASK MANAGEMENT METHOD, AND TASK MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

A tool is equipped with a torque sensor, suited for a tightening task of a fastening component of a device such as a fluid control system that requires a large number of fastening components for assembly and has a narrow space for access to the fastening components, and capable of automatically detecting a tightening torque. The tool includes a torque sensor capable of detecting a tightening torque for tightening a fastening component acting on a bit. The torque sensor initiates measurement of the tightening torque when the tightening torque detected exceeds a set threshold value, completes measurement when the tightening torque detected falls below the set threshold value and a set time elapses, and outputs torque-related data formed on the basis of measurement data from measurement initiation to measurement completion and including a measurement time. The torque-related data includes a peak value of the measurement data.

TORQUE CONTROL DEVICE FOR PULSE TOOLS AND METHOD OF MONITORING TORQUE FOR PULSE TOOLS
20200238486 · 2020-07-30 ·

A non-intrusive torque control device for pulse tools, and a method of monitoring torque of pulse tools include steps of establishing a characteristic curve (FIG. 6) specify relation of revolution-per-minute (or BPM) with output torques for a specific pulse tool. Then establish another relationship curve (FIG. 7) specify operational factors (such as supply air pressure) with revolutions-per-minute (or BPM) for the same pulse tool at calibration stage. Those two curves and threshold are stored in flash memory of BPM detector (part of torque control system). The BPM detector is attached on the surface of pulse tool at nearby of impact mechanism. When fastening a bolt, at tightening stage while the impact reach the threshold stored in memory of BPM detector then start monitoring. This is a complete close loop torque control exclusive for pulse tool only. Target torque can be pre-set manually or automatically if a wireless control proportional valve is available connected to air source. In other word, impact mechanism inside pulse tool is same as install single or double hammer Increase BPM (rpm) of impact mechanism has the same effect as increase hammer knocked speed and has been proven by characteristic curve (FIG. 6).
