A system for attaching a handle such as an extension pole to a power tool such as a hand sander includes a collar, a pressure plate, front and back pairs of vibration absorbing spacers, and a handle holder. The collar has a contact area and two projections extending from the contact area, and the a plate fits onto the projections so that the plate and the contact area of the collar define a space for mounting of a tool. The handle holder extends between the projections and is between the first and second pair of vibration absorbing spacers. A tightening structure may press the plate toward the contact area and compress the first and second pairs of vibration absorbing spacers toward the handle holder.

A power tool comprises an adjustable auxiliary handle assembly that facilities safe use of the tool by the operator when handling heavy duty handheld machinery. The adjustable auxiliary handle assembly comprises a strap, a handle base, an over-center linkage assembly, a locking lever, a locking lever and an adjustable knob. The strap is easily released and able to rotate and be locked in a different position convenient and comfortable to the operator. The auxiliary handle assembly is adjustable and can be operated with one hand (e.g., one-handed operation). The over-center linkage assembly holds the auxiliary handle position in place while allowing the power tool to be used in high-torque/high load applications.

In the inoperative position of the handle, a minimum friction torque (M.sub.1) which acts about the pivot axis is provided between the handle and the housing. In the operative position of the handle, the contour and the counter contour are operatively connected in such a manner that a further friction torque (M.sub.2) which acts about the pivot axis is present between the handle and the housing. The further friction torque (M.sub.2) in the operative position is greater than the minimum friction torque (M.sub.1) in the inoperative position.

An installation tool and fastener is particularly adapted for fastening a top plate to a roof support member and other structural connections. The installation tool comprises a telescopic tool assembly which transfers torque from a power driver tool to a fastener drive coupler. The installation tool has a receiver guide which is configured to concentrically guide a fastener into driver engagement with a fastener coupler. The coupler may have a driver tip with radial projections, a Philips driver tip or a square driver tip. In one embodiment, the installation tool fastener has a head with a maximum head diameter equal to the major thread diameter and a recess for coupling with the drive coupler.
