A land preparation tool includes a tool body having a cutting surface, mounting surfaces disposed on the tool body opposite the cutting surface, and opposing side surfaces each extending between the cutting surface and a different one of the mounting surfaces. One mounting surface angles inwardly from a distal edge of a side surface toward the tool body. Another mounting surface angles inwardly from a distal edge of the other side surface toward the tool body. An opening is disposed on the tool body opposite the cutting surface and between the mounting surfaces. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE OPERATION OF A RESIDUE REMOVAL DEVICE OF A SEED-PLANTING IMPLEMENT BASED ON FURROW CLOSING ASSEMBLY PERFORMANCE

In one aspect, the present subject matter is directed to a system for controlling the operation of a residue removal device of a seed-planting implement. The system may include a residue removal device configured to remove residue from a path of the seed-planting implement. The system may also include a furrow closing assembly including at least one closing disc, with the furrow closing assembly configured to close a furrow formed in the soil by the seed-planting implement. Furthermore, the system may include a sensor configured to capture data indicative of an operational parameter of the furrow closing assembly and a controller communicatively coupled to the sensor. The controller may be configured to monitor the operational parameter based on the data received from the sensor, the controller further configured to control an operation of the residue removal device based on the monitored operational parameter.

Portable bale breaker and potting apparatus

A portable bale breaker and potting apparatus is provided. Soil bales or blocks may be loaded onto an inclined bed and conveyed to rotating breaker bars that break the soil apart into loose soil. The loose soil is conveyed by an auger into a chute which deposits the loose soil into pots on a conveyor belt positioned below the chute. Rotating brush heads downstream of the chute remove excess soil from each pot. The apparatus includes a soil management system for recycling loose overflow soil back to an upstream position on the bed.

A soil probe assembly includes a frame member and a wheel rotatably coupled to the frame member. The wheel includes one or more soil probes that, as the wheel rotates against the earth, the weight of the soil probe assembly drives the soil probes into the earth. The wheel is configured to have at least two planar edges such that, as the wheel rolls onto one of the at least two planar edges, a slamming effect occurs due to the planar edge impacting against the ground, thus causing a soil sample to eject from a soil probe located across the wheel from the ground. The ejected soil sample is collected by a collection hamper. The assembly includes a funnel and a carousel such that the funnel is configured to receive and direct the ejected soil sample to the collection hamper, wherein the collection hamper is coupled to the carousel.
