Hair cutting device with comb unit recognition
A hair cutting device includes a hair cutting device body and an interchangeable comb unit for defining a hair length after cutting. The hair cutting device body further includes a comb interface for releasable attachment of the comb unit to the hair cutting device body, and a hair length indicator operatively coupled to the comb interface for indicating the hair length to a user. The interchangeable comb unit includes a comb identification member for identifying a hair length associated with the comb unit, and the comb interface includes a comb recognition arrangement being electrically coupled to the hair length indicator. The comb recognition arrangement is configured to sense the comb identification member when the comb unit is connected to the hair cutting device body, and to provide an electronic signal indicative of the hair length associated with the comb unit to the hair length indicator.
Electric shaver with imaging capability
System and method for improving the shaving experience by providing improved visibility of the skin shaving area. A digital camera is integrated with the electric shaver for close image capturing of shaving area, and displaying it on a display unit. The display unit can be integral part of the electric shaver casing, or housed in a separated device which receives the image via a communication channel. The communication channel can be wireless (using radio, audio or light) or wired, such as dedicated cabling or using powerline communication. A light source is used to better illuminate the shaving area. Video compression and digital image processing techniques are used for providing for improved shaving results. The wired communication medium can simultaneously be used also for carrying power from the electric shaver assembly to the display unit, or from the display unit to the electric shaver.

Hair cutting apparatus comprising a current detector
The present invention is directed to a hair cutting apparatus (600), such as a shaver, which is enabled to detect whether hair is currently being cut in a robust way. Such apparatus has a motor (102) for driving a cutting element. The motor current (106) is evaluated by filtering and amplifying it in such a way that a time derivative of the motor current (106) is processed and other parts of the motor current (106), such as noise and DC-5 parts, are eliminated. An evaluator determines whether the time derivative of the motor current is above a predefined threshold value.
APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR MEASURING SKIN CHARACTERISTICS AND ENHANCING SHAVING EXPERIENCES
A shaving system comprising a handle, a cartridge including at least one blade, the cartridge being releasably coupled to the handle, a detector, at least one sensor coupled to at least one of the handle and the cartridge, wherein the at least one sensor is configured to output an electrical signal in response to an infrared thermal radiation, detected and measured by the detector, of at least one skin property which is indicative of at least one skin characteristic, a processor configured to receive measurement data from the sensor and to at least one of identify and quantify the at least one skin characteristic based one the received measurement data, and a display configured to convey a message to the user based on skin characteristic data from the processor.
Personal care device
A personal care device, in particular skin treatment device such as electric shaver, including an elongated handle for manually moving the personal care device along a body surface, a working head attached to said handle for effecting a personal care treatment to said body surface, at least one detector for detecting at least one behavioral parameter indicative of a user's behavior when handling the personal care device, and an adjusting mechanism for adjusting at least one working parameter of the working head in response to the detected behavioral parameter.
Method for determining the time behavior of a cyclic motor process during use of an electrical hair removal device and hair removal device
Electrical hair removal device and method for determining the time behavior of a cyclic motor process during use of the electrical hair removal device with a motor-driven hair cutting unit by measuring the motor current. Parallel to measuring the motor current, the induced voltage of the motor is measured and a timing property of the induced voltage is evaluated, wherein the duration of a time pattern in the induced voltage is analyzed as timing property of the induced voltage. A cutting activity of the electrical hair removal device during use is determined based on the evaluated timing property of the induced voltage, and a force applied onto skin during use of the electrical hair removal device is determined based on the measured motor current and, optionally, on the determined cutting activity.
Personal appliance
A personal appliance. The personal appliance includes a handle having an implement connecting structure. An implement is connected to the implement connecting structure. An implement displacement sensor is positioned in the handle. The implement displacement sensor measures a displacement of the implement relative to a fixed position of the handle. A power source, an acceleration sensor and an angular velocity sensor are positioned in the handle.
Grooming device
A grooming device including a handle and a grooming implement connected to the handle. The handle includes a first portion having a housing, a proximal end and a distal end. A displacement sensor is positioned within the housing. A power source is positioned within the housing with the power source providing power to the displacement sensor. A neck portion is pivotably connected to the proximal end of the first portion about a handle pivot axis. The neck portion includes a proximal end, a distal end and a location element. As the neck portion pivots about the handle pivot axis relative to the first portion the displacement sensor detects displacement of the location element.
