SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ELECTRICALLY SENSING SHAVING RAZOR BLADE WEAR

A system and method for determining a level of wear of at least one blade of a razor cartridge, which includes a sensing unit measures an electrical parameter including one of (i) a total resistance of the at least one blade measured across a length of the at least one blade, and (ii) an electrical conductance of the at least one blade measured across the length of the at least one blade. A processing unit compares the measured electrical parameter to a reference electrical parameter and determines a level of wear of the at least one blade based on an amount of deviation of the measured electrical parameter from the reference electrical parameter. Information regarding the determined level of wear of the at least one blade is provided to a user by at least one of (i) a light indication, (ii) an aural indication, and (iii) a haptic indication.

A system and method for operating a personal grooming/household appliance, including: providing a personal grooming appliance including at least one motion sensor taken from a group consisting of: an orientation sensor, an acceleration sensor, and an inertial sensor; providing a camera associated with the personal grooming appliance; classifying data received from the motion sensor and from the camera using at least one trained machine learning classifier to generate an augmented classification; and providing user feedback information based upon the augmented classification, wherein the augmented classification pertains to a combination of a first state pertaining to a position of the grooming appliance with respect to a user's body part and also pertains to a second state that is different than the first state.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR OPERATING A PERSONAL GROOMING APPLIANCE OR HOUSEHOLD CLEANING APPLIANCE

A system and method for treating a surface of a user's body part, including: obtaining target surface condition information from a user's body part surface using one or more condition sensors taken from a group consisting of: an optical sensor and a bio-sensor; classifying the target surface condition information using a machine learning classifier to determine an initial target surface condition classification; obtaining treatment progress information using a combination of motion sensor data and surface condition information from the one or more condition sensors; and classifying the treatment progress information using a machine learning classifier to determine a progress classification for treating the initial target surface condition classification.

SHAVING RAZORS AND SHAVING CARTRIDGES

The retainer is operable to secure at least one blade within a housing of a shaving blade cartridge. The retainer extends along a pair of side edges of the housing, between a front edge of the housing and a rear edge of the housing. The retainer includes an upper end portion and either a lower end portion extending substantially parallel to the upper end portion and connected to the upper end portion by an intermediate portion, or one or a plurality of legs extending from an edge of the upper end portion.

A razor blade usage indicator or counter is mounted on the handle of the razor and moves upwardly and downwardly along the handle as a representation of the number of uses of the razor. Before or after each use, the indicator or counter is moved one position along the handle. The indicator or counter can roll or slide along the handle. Multiple counters may be color-coded for use by different people in a household.
