The spray gun also includes an air purge system configured to, when the spray gun is in a non-actuated position, purge the nozzle of the first and second components and, when the spray gun is in an actuated position, aid in atomization of the mixture of the first and second components.

A foam dispensing apparatus is capable of dispensing a mixture of a resin component and an isocyanate component. The foam dispensing apparatus includes a resin line and an isocyanate line connected to a manifold. A nozzle is connected to the manifold and the mixture is dispensed through the nozzle. The manifold defines a resin duct in communication with the resin line and the nozzle and an isocyanate duct in communication with the isocyanate line and the nozzle. At least one valve is connected to the resin and isocyanate lines and is moveable between an open position allowing flow through the resin and isocyanate lines and a closed position preventing flow through the resin and isocyanate lines. The valve is disposed exterior to the manifold and the flow is unregulated in the manifold for reducing maintenance of the manifold.

The invention also concerns a process for the formation of a polyurethane foam starting with the dispersion of carbon dioxide, even supercritical, in a reactive resin in which at least one initial dispersion and mixing controlled phase of the two components is provided in a dispersion and containment chamber under pressure divided into two sections (6,7) by a head (14) of a cylinder-piston mixing group (4) in fluid communication between themselves by means of at least one pouring passage (31, 36, 32, 39) provided with a static mixer (38) and in which adduction, dispersion and mixing occurs under high pressure (at least greater than 75 bar).

An apparatus for providing a liquid polymer component with a predefined air content, in particular for producing a plastic foam, includes a pressure vessel receiving the liquid polymer component through an opening, a pipeline at the bottom of the pressure vessel having a multiplicity of air outlet nozzles, a motor-operated stirring device, a circulation line, a pump between the inflow and outflow, and an outlet valve between the pump and the outflow. An oxygen sensor in the circulation line measures an actual value of the oxygen saturation of the air-charged polymer component, and an electronic control device modifies the pressure and/or amount of the compressed air supplied to the air outlet nozzles based on the actual value of the oxygen saturation measured by the oxygen sensor, such that the oxygen saturation of the liquid polymer component circulated in the circulation line assumes a predefined setpoint value.
