The present invention concerns a method for the selection and separation of polymers originating from urban and/or industrial plastic waste to obtain plastic materials for recycling which comprises a first step of supplying a mixture of polymers composed of flakes of polymers having dimensions ranging from 6 to 100 mm; a step of identification by means of near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy of the flakes of coloured and white plastic material and the flakes of black plastic material and subsequent separation from one other; several consecutive steps of identification by means of NIR spectroscopy of the different types of polymer from the coloured and white plastic material and subsequent separation of said polymer types.
PLANT AND METHOD FOR SORTING POLYMERIC WASTE
A plant for production of a mixture of waste based on polyolefins and XPS suitable for feeding into a pyrolytic reactor. The plant includes: a feeding station that releases a flow of material to be treated; a first station for removing the metal fragments; at least one optical separator for removing the non-polyolefin polymers and the textile and cellulosic fractions; a screen for removing the foreign bodies with dimensions smaller than a predefined minimum; a shredder for reducing the particle size of the material to be treated; a second station for removing the metal fragments; and an aeraulic separator for separating the three-dimensional polyolefin fraction from the two-dimensional polyolefin fraction. The embodiments also concern a method for the production of a mixture of waste based on polyolefin and XPS, suitable for chemical recycling.

A system and method for sorting and recovery of materials in a combination of a plastics processing facility (PPF) and a plastics recovery or recycling facility (PRF) is provided. The system can include a first line comprising a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) processing line, a second line comprising a polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) and polystyrene (PS) processing line, a third line comprising a plastics residuals recovery line, a fourth line comprising a fines and glass residue processing line, and a fifth line comprising a flexible plastic packaging processing line. The first line, the second line, the third line, the fourth line and the fifth line can all be located in close co-operational proximity on the same physical footprint and at the same site to process recovered plastics thus creating economies of scale and efficiency while meeting or exceeding minimum material quality specifications.

Also provided is a process for detecting a pneumatic vehicle tire with a sealant layer and to a process for recycling a pneumatic vehicle tire with sealant. The sealant layer has at least one luminescent agent on its radially inward-facing surface. The tire is detected via the luminescent agent.

A method may include determining a first dry mass flow rate of a wet paper material stream based on a first amount of contaminants, a first moisture content, and a first wet mass flow rate of the wet paper material stream, determining a second dry mass flow rate of a wet plastic material stream based on a second amount of contaminants, a second moisture content, and a second wet mass flow rate of the wet plastic material stream, calculating, using the first dry mass flow rate and the second dry mass flow rate, a paper/plastic ratio of a combined stream of the paper material stream and the plastic material stream, and adjusting, a flow rate of paper into the paper material stream and a flow rate of plastic into the plastic material stream such that the calculated paper/plastic ratio of the combined stream equals a target paper/plastic ratio.
