METHOD OF MAKING COEXTRUDED CROSSLINKED POLYOLEFIN FOAM WITH POLYAMIDE CAP LAYERS
Described herein are physically crosslinked, closed cell continuous multilayer foam structures that includes a foam layer comprising polypropylene, polyethylene, or a combination of polypropylene and polyethylene and a polyamide cap layer. The multilayer foam structure can be obtained by coextruding a multilayer structure comprising at least one foam composition layer and at least one cap composition layer, irradiating the coextruded structure with ionizing radiation, and continuously foaming the irradiated structure.
Printing method and printing device
A printing method includes applying a foaming agent composition containing a foaming agent to form a foaming agent layer, applying a foaming inhibitor composition containing a foaming inhibitor onto the foaming agent layer, curing the foaming agent layer with irradiation of active energy, and heating the foaming agent layer to foam the foaming agent layer, wherein the foaming agent composition has a viscosity of from 50 to 1,500 mPa.Math.s at 25 degrees C. and the absolute difference between the static surface tension of the foaming agent composition and the static surface tension of the foaming inhibitor composition is 5 mN/m or less.
Bragg-peak three-dimensional manufacturing with resins
This patent application claims the use of directed energy in the form of electronically scanned ion beams (e.g., proton beams) to form plastic parts by selectively curing commodity or engineering resin in the shape of the part. Polymerization is limited to the vicinity of the controlled Bragg-peak of the ion beam (i.e., where linear energy transfer is maximized), if necessary, by the use of chemical polymerization inhibitors or conditions that inhibit polymerization. This technology is more flexible than conventional or continuous three-dimension printing/production (e.g., CLIP™) because (i) it is not confined to layer-by-layer construction, (ii) it does not require a moving stage upon which the plastic part is formed, (iii) it is independent of orientation of the part (not dependent on gravity), and (iv) it allows the incorporation of fillers and pre-formed elements of almost any material into the final part. The process can be faster than “printing” processes because multiple beams can work from different directions simultaneously and the freedom from the layer-by-layer constraint allows time-saving strategies for building and final curing of the part.
Peroxide cross-linking and high temperature melting
Methods of making oxidation and wear resistant polymeric materials using peroxide cross-linking and high temperature melting process are disclosed. A multiple step procedure for enabling the manufacturing of such material without size limitations is also disclosed.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING MOLDED BODY
The present invention provides a method for producing a molded body, having the step 1 of applying a composition containing an alicyclic urethane (meth)acrylate to a thermoplastic resin substrate to obtain a coated material, the step 2 of irradiating the obtained coated material with an active energy ray to cure the composition, obtaining a laminated material having a cured product layer obtained from the cured composition, and the step 3 of subjecting the obtained laminated material to bending processing to obtain a molded body, wherein the alicyclic urethane (meth)acrylate has a structure having an alicyclic structure represented by the formula (A), and a group having two or more (meth)acryloyl groups represented by the formula (B), and further has a polymerizable double bond equivalent of 100 to 1,000 g/mol.
Method of making coextruded, cross-linked polyolefin foam with TPU cap layers
The present disclosure is directed to a physically crosslinked, closed cell continuous multilayer foam structure comprising at least one foam polypropylene/polyethylene layer with a TPU cap layer. The multilayer foam structure can be obtained by coextruding a multilayer structure comprising at least one foam composition layer with at least one cap composition layer, irradiating the coextruded structure with ionizing radiation, and continuously foaming the irradiated structure.
Weatherable first surface over a tie layer over a pultruded substrate
The invention relates to a multilayered pultruded structure having a weatherable cap layer over a pultruded substrate, adhered with an appropriate tie layer. The structure provides improved weatherability and surface quality for pultruded structures. The invention is especially useful to provide a weatherable pultruded polyurethane, with an acrylic or styrenic cap layer. The weatherable polyurethane (PU) pultrusion of the invention provides an increased modulus over polyester pultrusions, making the weatherable PU pultrusion useful in commercial applications, and applications requiring a higher transverse modulus.
PRODUCING A BELLOWS
Bellows, for example, a roll bellows and a folding bellows, can be produced that can be used at higher temperatures such as those prevailing in modern articulated constructions, using a mixture comprising at least one thermoplastic elastomer selected from the group of copolysters with a hard segment and a soft segment, wherein in a first step the at least one thermoplastic elastomer is mixed with approximately 0.8 wt. % to approximately 5 wt. % triallyl isocyanurate, based on the total amount of the mixture; in a second step the bellows is produced; and in a third step, the bellows is exposed to an ionizing irradiation in a range from approximately 140 kGy to approximately 350 kGy.
