Compression molded silicone ring
A method of manufacturing a silicone ring consisting of two outer-band halves formed by compression silicone-molding in a first mold and an inner-band formed by placing half of the outer-bands of the ring in a second mold, placing a spacer-insert mold over the second mold, inserting a silicone rubber in the cavities of a spacer-insert mold, inserting the remaining outer-band halves into a fourth mold, inserting the three molds into a compression chamber to vulcanize the outer-band halves and the inner-band together, wherein the first and second outer-bands form a complete ring, and a symmetrical inner-band is formed in between the first and second outer-band halves.
Method and apparatus for forming marbelized engineered stone
An apparatus including a first dispensing device configured to supply a first material to a conveyor belt of the main conveyor device in response to control by the computer processor, and a second dispensing device configured to supply a second material on top of the first material, while the first material is on the conveyor belt to form a combination comprised of at least the first and second materials, in response to control by the computer processor. The combination may be compressed by a first compression device in response to control by the computer processor. The compressed combination may be stirred by a first stirring device in response to control by the computer processor to form a first modified combination. The first modified combination may be compressed by a second compression device in response to control by the computer processor to form a compressed first modified combination.
PAVING TILES MADE OF RUBBER MATERIALS AND ASSOCIATED METHODS
A paving tile is made of a first rubber material and a second rubber material that is dissimilar from the first rubber material. The first rubber material may be a recycled rubber material, such as crumb rubber granules from scrap vehicle tires. The second rubber material may be a nitrile rubber material, such as nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR). The crumb rubber material is disposed within a mold and leveled. A relatively thin layer of the NBR material is positioned onto the crumb rubber material and the crumb rubber material and the NBR material are chemically bonded without an adhesive using a compression molding process including at least one of a preselected pressure, a preselected temperature and a preselected period of time. The recycled rubber material may have a first color and the nitrile rubber material may have a second color that is different than the first color.
Method for Molding an Article from Thermosetting Elastomer Compositions and Article Molded
An article is molded from first and second thermosetting elastomer compositions each comprising free-radically curable elastomer and free radical initiator but different from one another. The first thermosetting elastomer composition is molded to fill a first area of a mold cavity at a first temperature at which the first free radical initiator has a half-lifeabout 10 minutes or at which the first thermosetting elastomer composition has an increase in torque less than 10% of a total increase in torque at full cure. The second thermosetting elastomer composition is then inserted into the mold cavity, and the mold is heated to fully cure the article, for example a temperature at which each free radical initiator has a half-lifeabout 1 minute, with the second composition filling a second area of the mold cavity before or during heating and curing.
