Folded panel, method of making same and products made from one or more such folded panels
10843433 · 2020-11-24 · ·

A folded panel includes a fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) substrate with an outer layer secured to and at least partially covering one major surface thereof and a polymer matrix covering an opposite major surface thereof. In one embodiment, the FRP substrate is folded about a fold line to create opposed plies on either side of the fold line with the polymer matrix of one of the opposed plies contacting the polymer matrix of the other of the opposed plies and with the outer layer forming a folded edge at the fold line that is continuous with the outer layer covering the opposed plies, and the folded FRP substrate is then consolidated with the polymer matrix. In another embodiment, a fiber or fibrous material substrate is positioned between the opposed plies and the combination of the folded FRP substrate and the fiber or fibrous substrate is consolidated with the polymer matrix.

Light plastic densifier
11865747 · 2024-01-09 ·

In general, this disclosure relates to an apparatus that compresses lightweight plastic waste (e.g., used grocery bags, empty trash bags, food wrappers, etc.), and then applies a limited amount of heat to bake the compressed plastic into a brick of plastic. The plastic is compressed, and then heated enough to cause it to retain its compressed shape, without melting or substantial outgassing.

ROSIN PRESS SYSTEM
20200223111 · 2020-07-16 ·

Described is a rosin press system for extracting rosin (oil) from plant material. The rosin press system includes a male plate with a male protrusion and a female plate formed to matingly receive the male protrusion. The plates can be heated such that when plant material is pressed between the plates, rosin is pressed from the plant material and allowed to drain from a drain hole positioned at the middle of the female plate.

THERMOPLASTIC ACOUSTIC BLOCKER DOOR
20200095955 · 2020-03-26 · ·

A method for manufacturing a thrust reverser blocker door may comprise thermoforming a sandwich panel comprising a facesheet, a backsheet, and a honeycomb core. The method may further comprising overmolding a mounting structure onto the backsheet. The first thermoplastic material may comprise a continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite material. The second thermoplastic material may comprise a discontinuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite material.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING METAL-RESIN COMPOSITE

A method for manufacturing a metal-resin composite includes preparing a mold including a first mold forming a housing portion and a second mold movable with respect to the first mold, housing an extruded material in the housing portion, arranging resin material on the first mold, moving the second mold to form a cavity defined by the extruded material and the mold, and filling the cavity with the resin material. In the filling, a protrusion of the extruded material is brought into close contact with the housing portion or its peripheral edge by molding pressure applied from the mold to the extruded material, and the cavity is disconnected from a gap between an inner surface of the housing portion and the extruded material.

RESIN SHAPING MOLD AND RESIN SHAPING METHOD

A resin shaping mold includes an upper mold, a lower mold arranged to be opposed to the upper mold, a sliding mechanism configured to be slidable on a surface of the lower mold and having a pressing surface including a surface directed in a different direction from a direction of pressing on a resin by the upper mold and the lower mold, and a rubber member formed to cover at least the pressing surface of the sliding mechanism and a gap between the pressing surface and the lower mold.

PVB FILM FOR HEAD UP DISPLAY (HUD), FORMING MOLD AND FORMING METHOD THEREOF
20190329480 · 2019-10-31 ·

A PVB film for HUD, a forming mold and a forming method thereof are presented. The accuracy error of HUD imaging achieved by the PVB film for HUD is 0.1 mrad. The forming mold includes an upper mold and a lower mold, the two of which can form an enclosed mold cavity when clamped together, wherein protective films are disposed on inner surfaces of the upper mold and the lower mold, respectively, for supporting PVB material and preventing the PVB material from bonding with the upper mold and the lower mold, and wherein shapes of the protective films match shapes of the upper mold and the lower mold.

Compression molding assembly and methods for molding a thermoplastic blocker door

A compression molding assembly for molding a honeycomb core, including a plurality of cells defined by a plurality of walls, of a blocker door is provided. The compression molding assembly includes a ram plate comprising a plurality of openings defined therethrough and a plurality of core inserts coupled to the ram plate such that the plurality of core inserts are configured to form the honeycomb core of the blocker door. Each core insert is removably coupled with a respective opening of the plurality of openings such that each core insert is configured to form a respective cell of the plurality of cells.

Compression molding device

A compression molding device, which can obtain a high compression molding force without lowering the efficiency of article production, and whose molding means has a long service life, is provided. In the compression molding device, a one-side mold assembly moving means (58) includes a toggle link mechanism including two links (62) and (64), and a toggle link mechanism operating means (60), while an opposite-side mold assembly moving means (108) includes a hydraulic cylinder mechanism. When a one-side mold assembly (16) and an opposite-side mold assembly (18) are to be brought from an open state into a closed state, the one-side mold assembly (16) is first moved to a nearly closed state by the one-side mold assembly moving means (58), and then the opposite-side mold assembly (18) is moved from the nearly closed state to the closed state by the opposite-side mold assembly moving means (108).

Method of molding spokes of a non-pneumatic tire using an array of molds

A method of curing spokes is provided in which first molds of a first and second series of molds are placed into a platen press, and force and heat applied. The platen press is opened and the first mold of the first series is moved relative to the platen press while the position of the first mold of the second series is kept the same relative to the platen press. Force and heat are applied to the molds. The platen press is opened, and the first mold of the first series is removed while the second mold of the first series is kept within the platen press. A cured spoke is removed from the first mold of the first series.
