A soil cutting head for a mount of an agricultural implement includes a head having a leading extremity for cutting into soil ahead of the mount, and a fertilizer tube extending through the head to a discharge end for discharging a stream of fertilizer into the soil from the head.

Remote adjustment of a row unit of an agricultural device

Agricultural devices, row unit adjustment systems, and methods of adjusting a depth of a furrow. In some aspects, an agricultural device is adapted to plant seeds and includes a frame, a furrow opener coupled to the frame and adapted to cut a furrow including a depth, a sensor adapted to sense a characteristic associated with planting seeds and generate a signal associated with the sensed characteristic, and a processing unit receiving the signal associated with the sensed characteristic. The depth of the furrow is adjustable based on the signal associated with the sensed characteristic. Such characteristic may be a characteristic of the soil, a force applied to the agricultural device, or a position of a portion of the agricultural device.

A seeding system for seeding large and small seeds includes a plurality of dispensing apparatuses mounted on an implement frame each comprising a first furrow opener mounted and a second furrow opener spaced laterally from the first furrow opener. A singulating meter is operative to dispense the large and small seeds through a meter discharge. A first seed conduit is connected to the first furrow opener and the meter discharge, and a second seed conduit is connected to the second furrow opener and the meter discharge. A selector is operative in a large seed mode to maintain the connection of the first seed conduit to the meter discharge while disconnecting the second seed conduit, and the selector is operative in a small seed mode to maintain the connection of the first seed conduit to the meter discharge while connecting the second seed conduit to the meter discharge.

Planting characteristic detection and control using a seed sensor
11284559 · 2022-03-29 · ·

A seed sensor senses seeds on a row unit and generates a seed sensor signal. A number of planting characteristics, such as a seed orientation, seed slugging, delivery system wear, and seed abnormalities, can be detected based on the seed sensor signal. The planter can be controlled based on the detected planting characteristics.

Flow control insert for an agricultural metering system

A flow control insert for an agricultural metering system includes a body configured to couple the flow control insert to a housing of the agricultural metering system. The flow control insert also includes a shoulder extending from the body. The shoulder is configured to engage a channel in a meter roller to control flow of particulate material within the channel along a rotational direction of the meter roller.

Universal row clearer bracket system and method

A universal row clearing bracket including a mounting bracket configured to engage a toolbar of a tractor, wherein the mounting bracket may have a yoke engaged therewith. The yoke may connect to a first and second pivoting arm. One end of the pivoting arms configured to engage the yoke such that the yoke prevents the pivoting arms from moving with respect to the receiver past a certain point in at least one direction. The opposite end of the pivoting arms connecting to an interchangeable shoe, the interchangeable shoe configured to pivotally engage at least one engaging wheel and be replaced for other shoes to support different size engaging wheels.

BENT LEG OPENER FOR AN AGRICULTURAL SEEDING IMPLEMENT
20210321556 · 2021-10-21 ·

An opener mounts on a tool supporting shank of an agricultural seeding implement for forming a furrow-type opening in the ground and delivering product into the ground as the agricultural seeding implement is displaced across the ground in a forward working direction. The opener includes a mounting body secured to the shank and a lower leg forming a knife that penetrates into the ground at an offset angle from vertical to minimize soil disturbance while seeding. The leading face of the lower leg and the front face of a lower portion of the mounting body each define a blunt edge (i) extending upwardly and rearwardly along a height thereof at a longitudinal slope, and (ii) extending in a widthwise direction across a majority of a width between the two side surfaces at a lateral slope that is between 60 degrees and 90 degrees from the forward working direction.

Independent ground engaging tool depth control

In one embodiment, a seeding implement control system includes a controller including a memory and a processor. The controller is configured to receive a first signal indicative of a target extension length of an actuator. The actuator is configured to control a ground engaging tool of a row unit. The actuator is also configured to position a lower surface of a blade of the ground engaging tool a target distance above a soil surface while the actuator is extended to the target extension length. The controller is further configured to store the target extension length in a memory device of the controller. The controller is configured to instruct the actuator to transition to the target extension length in response to receiving a second signal indicative of transitioning the ground engaging tool to a disengaged position.

Systems, methods, and apparatus for controlling downforce of an agricultural implement

A downforce system adjusts the amount of downforce being applied to a row unit of an agricultural implement. The downforce system is controlled to increase or decrease the force on the row unit. A load is sensed at the row unit and compared to either or both of a user defined target and a lower threshold that can be based, at least in part, upon a percentage of a value. When the load is determined to be below the lower threshold, the user defined amount is increased at a rate of change until the load is above the threshold, at which point the increase is stopped, and reduced, if necessary.

Method and machine for plant cultivation on a field

An agricultural machine for performing a cultivation operation on a field with plants in a regular, non-square pattern, in parallel, linear rows with a first transverse distance between adjacent rows in a first direction being smaller than a second transverse distance between adjacent rows in a second direction different from the first direction. The agricultural machine is connected to a first set of work units with lateral distances between adjacent work units of the first set of work units corresponding to the first distance, and to a second set of work units which are adapted to be inoperative during operation of the agricultural machine in the first direction and adapted to be operative during operation of the agricultural machine in the second direction to cover the areas between adjacent rows which cannot be treated with the work units of the first set of the work units.
