PUSH-IN EARPLUG AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME USING A MANDREL
A push-in earplug is provided. The push-in earplug comprises an elongate core comprising a core material. The push-in earplug also comprises an outer layer comprising a foam material, the outer layer covering at least a portion of an outer surface of the elongate core. The push-in earplug also comprises a channel extending through the elongate core from a first end of the elongate core to the second end of the elongate core.
EXPANDED BEADS HAVING DENSITY AND/OR CELL MORPHOLOGY GRADIENTS, AND SINTERED FOAMS OBTAINED THEREFROM
The present invention relates to a foamed sintered polymeric material with improved mechanical properties and a process for the preparation thereof comprising the following steps: providing an expandable polymeric material in the form of granules, solubilizing with a time-varying pressure profile said one or more blowing agents in the expandable polymeric material, expanding said granules to form said expanded beads by instantly releasing the pressure or by pressure release and subsequent heating, and sintering together said expanded beads, preferably at a temperature higher than 30° C.
FOAMED ARTICLES AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME
Foamed articles including a foamed thermoplastic elastomeric material, methods of making the foamed articles, and methods for manufacturing articles of footwear, apparel, and athletic equipment incorporating such foamed articles are provided. In one aspect, a method for making a foamed article comprises placing an article comprising a foamable material and carbon dioxide in a vessel, maintaining the vessel at a first pressure and first temperature at which the carbon dioxide is a liquid and carbon dioxide is soluble in the foamable material, optionally exposing the infused article to a second temperature and second pressure, and subjecting the article to a third pressure and third temperature at which the infused carbon dioxide phase transitions to a gas, thereby expanding the foamable material into a foamed material and forming the foamed article.
MOLDING OF BEAD FOAM POLYESTERS
Methods of making molded foam articles. The methods include introducing steam into a mold simultaneous to filling the mold with foam particles. The method can be performed faster and with a lower ΔT than conventional molding processes, permitting faster turn-around to the production of subsequent molded articles. The molded articles produced by the method can have thicker side walls and improved foam particle fusion as compared to conventional molding processes.
Foam molding process by modifying amorphous PLA
A process of microcellular foam molding an article includes using a modifier to modify properties of amorphous PLA, pouring the modified amorphous PLA into a high pressure vessel, dissolving an SCF in the high pressure vessel to impregnate the modified amorphous PLA in the high pressure vessel which is configured to allow the SCF to effuse through, forming foamed pellets, conveying the foamed pellets to a mold in a second vessel filled with water or oil, heating the second vessel, and cooling the second vessel until a foamed article is finished in the mold.
HOT MELT ADHESIVE FOAM DISPENSING SYSTEM
A dispensing system for dispensing hot melt adhesive foam onto a substrate is described. The dispensing system comprises a pump having a first input to receive a hot melt adhesive and a second input to receive a gas, where the pump mixes the hot melt adhesive and the gas to produce a solution and pump the solution at a volumetric flow rate. The dispensing system also includes a valve to control an amount of the gas provided to the pump from the second input, a flow meter to measure the volumetric flow rate of the solution pumped by the pump, and a dispenser to receive the solution from the pump and dispense the solution to create the hot melt adhesive foam.
HOT MELT ADHESIVE FOAM DISPENSING SYSTEM
A dispensing system for dispensing a hot melt adhesive foam onto a substrate is described. The dispensing system comprises a pump having a first input to receive a hot melt adhesive and a second input to receive a gas, where the pump mixes the hot melt adhesive and the gas to produce a solution. The dispensing system also includes a temperature sensor to detect a temperature of the solution, a dispenser to receive the solution from the pump and dispense the solution, and a controller. The controller instructs the pump to operate at a first speed, receives the temperature of the solution, and instructs the pump to operate at a second speed that is different than the first speed in response to the signal.
MULTILAYER MICROCELLULAR COMPOSTABLE BIOPLASTICS AND THEIR METHOD OF MANUFACTURE
The present invention provides a continuous process for solid-state expansion of a biopolymer, e.g., polylactic acid, which can be used to manufacture reduced-density thermoplastic materials with improved physical and thermal properties. By incorporating multiple stages of heating into the process as a means to regulate heat flux, unprecedented control of microstructure and crystallinity can be achieved. Thermoplastic sheets with the distinct cellular characteristics imparted by the process disclosed herein were found to be thicker and stronger than materials prepared by conventional processes. Thermoforming sheets with such characteristics enabled the production of light-weight, thermally-stable, compostable products that resist warping, and are thus suitable for a range of industrial applications.
