Systems, methods and apparatus are provided for controlling an agricultural implement having a plurality of row units. In some embodiments, seeds are planted by rotating a seed disc in a first direction; seeds are then unloaded from a seed disc into a seed pool by rotating the seed disc in a second direction. In some such embodiments an amount of rotation in the second direction is selected to ensure that seeds are released into the seed pool and not released from the seed meter.

The port interface also includes a second flow passage configured to receive a balancing airflow and to output the balancing airflow to an external environment. In addition, the port interface includes a knife valve having a blade with an opening. The blade is configured to move between a first position in which the opening is substantially aligned with the first flow passage and a solid portion of the blade is substantially aligned with the second flow passage, and a second position in which the opening is substantially aligned with the second flow passage and the solid portion of the blade is substantially aligned with the first flow passage.

A port interface for a pneumatic distribution system includes a first flow passage configured to receive fluidized particulate material from an outlet port of a header and to output the fluidized particulate material to an outlet line. The port interface also includes a second flow passage configured to receive a purging airflow and to output the purging airflow to the outlet line. In addition, the port interface includes a knife valve having a blade with a first opening and a second opening. The blade is configured to move between a first position in which the first opening is substantially aligned with the first flow passage and the second opening is substantially aligned with the second flow passage, and a second position in which the first opening is substantially aligned with the second flow passage and a solid portion of the blade is substantially aligned with the first flow passage.

Sectioned metering system and method

A sectioned metering system and method is provided. One metering system for distributing an agricultural product in a field includes a drive input and a rotary shaft assembly coupled to the drive input and configured to be driven in rotation by the drive input. The metering system also includes a first metering section driven by the rotary shaft assembly and at least two additional metering sections. Each additional metering section is selectively engageable to drive the respective additional metering section by the rotary shaft assembly. Each additional metering section is also selectively disengageable to interrupt driving of the respective additional metering section by the rotary shaft assembly while the first metering section remains driven.

An air distribution apparatus including a manifold body and a plurality of ports defined through a wall of the manifold body. The apparatus also includes a delivery conduit connected to each one of the plurality of ports. On at least one of the plurality of ports, a port valve configured to communicate an interior of the manifold body with the delivery conduit associated with the at least one of the plurality of ports. The apparatus also includes a supply conduit connected at an output end thereof to the interior of the manifold body and connected at an input end thereof to receive a product air stream with agricultural products entrained therein. The apparatus also includes an exhaust orifice defined in the supply conduit and an exhaust valve configured to control a flow of pressurized air from an interior of the supply conduit through the exhaust orifice. The port valve and exhaust valve are controlled to operate oppositely to each other between open and closed positions of each valve such that when the port valve is in the closed position. The exhaust valve is in the open position with the delivery conduit being disconnected from the interior of the manifold body and, when the exhaust valve is in the closed position, the port valve is in the open position and pressurized air from the interior of the supply conduit is prevented from flowing through the exhaust orifice. The port valve and the exhaust valve are adjustable to intermediate positions between the open and closed positions.

Air clutch cover

An air clutch cover for an air clutch assembly of an agricultural planter is provided. The air clutch cover includes a shell which may be removably installed onto the air clutch assembly. The shell has an opening sized to sealingly receive an air cylinder of the air clutch assembly therethrough. Sidewalls of the shell include cut-outs for allowing portions of the air clutch assembly to protrude outwardly from the air clutch cover.

Individual row lift system for planters

An agricultural planter has a chassis with a tool bar and at least one row unit. Each row unit is carried by the tool bar and has a fluid actuator and a linkage assembly connecting it to the tool bar. The linkage assembly and fluid actuator allows the row unit to be raised and lowered. A control module is operable to individually raise and lower each row unit on the agricultural planter using the fluid actuator in response to either a manual input, an automatically determined requirement or condition of the at least one row unit, or an automatically determined operating condition of the agricultural planter. The control module is further operable to prevent the raising or lowering of an individual row unit on the agricultural planter based on either a configuration of the agricultural planter or the potential occurrence of an undesirable weight or drag distribution.

Selective fan shaped material distributor

A material distribution system includes: a chassis; a material tank carried by the chassis and configured to hold a material; and a header configured to receive and distribute material from the material tank entrained in an air flow. The header includes: a header body having a pair of sidewalls, an inlet configured to receive entrained material from the material tank and a plurality of outlets, the sidewalls defining a width therebetween that increases from the inlet toward the plurality of outlets; a valve associated with an outlet that is configured to switch between a distributing position and a purging position, the valve blocking its outlet in the purging position; and a plenum having a volume of air that is selectively in fluid communication with the plurality of outlets to provide a purging air flow to the outlet with the associated valve when the valve is in the purging position.

SELECTIVE FAN SHAPED MATERIAL DISTRIBUTOR

A material distribution system includes: a chassis; a material tank carried by the chassis and configured to hold a material; and a header configured to receive and distribute material from the material tank entrained in an air flow. The header includes: a header body having a pair of sidewalls, an inlet configured to receive entrained material from the material tank and a plurality of outlets, the sidewalls defining a width therebetween that increases from the inlet toward the plurality of outlets; a valve associated with an outlet that is configured to switch between a distributing position and a purging position, the valve blocking its outlet in the purging position; and a plenum having a volume of air that is selectively in fluid communication with the plurality of outlets to provide a purging air flow to the outlet with the associated valve when the valve is in the purging position.

METERING APPARATUSES FOR SECTIONAL CONTROL

A metering apparatus for distributing an agricultural product in a field has a meterbox configured for association with a hopper for receiving agricultural product from the hopper. A rotatable metering element is disposed within a chamber in the meterbox, and the rotating metering element is configured to deliver the agricultural product at a regulated rate from the hopper through the chamber to a product distribution line. Delivery of the agricultural product to the product distribution line may be selectively stopped by a disengagement structure for disengaging the agricultural product from the meter roller while the meter roller continues to rotate. The disengagement structure may comprise the meter roller moveable between a lowered product engaging position and a raised product disengaging position.
