Method for molding an article from thermosetting elastomer compositions and article molded
10562253 · 2020-02-18 · ·

An article is molded from first and second thermosetting elastomer compositions each comprising free-radically curable elastomer and free radical initiator but different from one another. The first thermosetting elastomer composition is molded to fill a first area of a mold cavity at a first temperature at which the first free radical initiator has a half-lifeabout 10 minutes or at which the first thermosetting elastomer composition has an increase in torque less than 10% of a total increase in torque at full cure. The second thermosetting elastomer composition is then inserted into the mold cavity, and the mold is heated to fully cure the article, for example a temperature at which each free radical initiator has a half-lifeabout 1 minute, with the second composition filling a second area of the mold cavity before or during heating and curing.

A method of fastening structural metal reinforcement on a portion of a gas turbine blade made of composite material and an injection mold for performing the method, the method including positioning the structural metal reinforcement in an injection mold, positioning the portion of the blade onto which the structural metal reinforcement is to be fastened in the injection mold, the portion of the blade and the structural metal reinforcement being positioned relative to each other in their final relative position while leaving between them a gap, injecting adhesive into the gap between the structural metal reinforcement and the portion of the blade onto which the structural metal reinforcement is to be fastened, and polymerizing the adhesive.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING RESIN MOLDED BODY

In a method for producing a resin molded body, a thermosetting resin member is formed by heating a thermosetting resin material that is a raw material of the thermosetting resin member to complete a curing. A nascent surface having a functional group is formed on at least a part of a sealed surface of the thermosetting resin member by removing a surface layer that is an outermost layer of the sealed surface via irradiation of laser light to the sealed surface. The sealed surface of the thermosetting resin member is sealed with the thermoplastic resin member by injecting a thermoplastic resin material to the thermosetting resin member having the nascent surface, the functional group of the nascent surface being chemically bonded to the functional group of the additive. The thermosetting resin member has an absorption of the laser light at or above 10% per 1 m.

INJECTION MOLDED ASSEMBLY AND METHOD OF JOINING INJECTION MOLDED PARTS

An assembly of joined injection molded parts and a method for joining injection molded parts is disclosed herein. The assembly includes, but is not limited to, a first injection molded part having a first bonding area. The first bonding area has a plurality of first fingers extending from a surface of the first bonding area. The assembly further includes a second injection molded part having a second bonding area. The second bonding area corresponds in shape to the first bonding area and has a plurality of second fingers that extend from a surface of the second bonding area. The assembly includes an adhesive tape arranged between the plurality of first fingers and the plurality of second fingers. The adhesive tape is configured to bond the first injection molded part to the second injection molded part.

Laminated film and laminated molded article

A transparent laminated film is described, which has excellent chemical resistance and surface hardness, is glossy even after heating and which has a low haze value, and a laminated molded article that uses the film.

Virtual head mounted video camera system

A facial image capture system may capture images of a face of a person while the person is moving. A video camera may capture sequential images of a scene to which the video camera is directed. A marker-based location detection system may determine and generate information about the location of a marker worn on or close to the face of the person. A camera control system may automatically adjusts both the horizontal and vertical direction to which the video camera is directed so as to cause the sequential images of the camera to each be of the face of the person while the person is moving, based on the information about the location of the marker from the marker-based location detection system.

Stator Injection Molding Centralization

In a stator injection molding centralization technique, a mold core is disposed inside a stator tube, thereby forming an annulus between the stator tube and mold core. The mold core includes a pitch length defined between a first and second lobe tip of the mold core. A centralizing member is positioned in the annulus, which has a length at least as long as the pitch length of the mold core. During the injection molding process, elastomeric material is injected into the annulus behind the centralizing member, which is located adjacent to the injection point. As the elastomer is injected, it displaces the centralizing member ahead of it along the annulus. As the centralizing member moves through the annulus, it supports the mold core, thus preventing the sag effect.
