A shaping machine includes a stationary first mold mounting plate, a second mold mounting plate movable with respect to the first mold mounting plate, a tubular snorkel fixedly secured to the second mold mounting plate, and an injection unit for plasticizing and injecting a molding material. An abutment is designed so that, in the opened condition of the closing unit, the injection unit can be braced against the abutment, and so that, in a closed condition of the closing unit, the injection unit is freed from the abutment by the force action of the snorkel on the injection unit.

MOLDING APPARATUS AND METHODS

A plastic molding system comprises: dispensing, pre-shaping and shaping cells and a transport subsystem. The dispensing cell has a station for dispensing a dose of plastic feedstock. The pre-shaping and shaping cells each comprise a plurality of stations for shaping the workpiece into a preform shape and into a final shape, respectively. The transport subsystem advances a workpiece along a selected one of a plurality of process paths to form a molded article. Each of the plurality of process paths is defined by a combination of stations of the dispensing cell, the pre-shaping cell and the shaping cell.

A movable platen according to the present invention includes: a mold clamping platen 42 having a projecting portion 62 in a mold closing direction-side surface; a mold mounting platen 44 mounted to the projecting portion 62 of the mold clamping platen 42; and a guide mechanism 50 fixed to the mold clamping platen 42 and supporting the mold mounting platen 44. Only the mold clamping platen 42 is fixed to the guide mechanism 50, while the mold mounting platen 44 is not fixed but placed on platen surface support portions 52.

Provided is a magnetic clamp device that reduces a magnetic flux leaking from a magnetic circuit passing through a permanent magnet and a magnetic pole member. The magnetic clamp device includes: a permanent magnet 20 surrounding a magnetic pole member 10 and disposed on a surface of a plate PL made of a magnetic body that magnetically clamps a mold in a magnetized state; and a reversible magnet 16 capable of reversing polarity and disposed at the rear of the permanent magnet 20. The magnetic pole member 10 is constituted by a plurality of magnetic pole pieces 101, 102, 103, and 104. Each of the magnetic pole pieces has a first lateral surface R with a shape corresponding to the opposite permanent magnet 20, and a second lateral surface T at which adjacent magnetic pole pieces oppose each other. The magnetic pole member 10 moves as the first lateral surfaces R are suction-adsorbed by the permanent magnet 20 without the second lateral surfaces T interfering with each other. The magnetic pole pieces 101, 102, 103, and 104 are held from the front and rear.

At least one of the first platen and the second platen is able to move back and forth so as to approach or depart from the other. The pressure receiving platen is located on a side remote from the first platen, of the second platen. The toggle mechanism is disposed between the second platen and the pressure receiving platen and on a diagonal line of the second platen and configured to cause the first and second platens to approach or depart from each other.

A platen apparatus for a mold center section of an injection molding machine includes a first mold mounting surface on a first front face of a first wall, the first mold mounting surface for supporting a first mold section, and a second mold mounting surface on a second front face of a second wall, the second wall spaced apart from the first wall in an axial direction and providing a generally hollow chamber therebetween. The second mold mounting surface is for supporting a second mold section and is directed away from the first mold mounting surface. The platen apparatus further includes a plurality of compression members extending between the first and second walls for maintaining a wall spacing between the first and second walls, and an ejector assembly mounted between the first and second walls for ejecting molded articles from the first and second mold sections.
