Permanent tooling for composite coil spring compression molding

An inner mandrel for forming a variable taper component includes a plurality of interlocking pieces and a brace. Each interlocking piece defines opposed tapered edge faces, a first surface, and a tapered second surface opposite the first surface. One of the edge faces defines a locking feature and another of the edge faces defines a receiving feature engaging the locking feature of an adjacent interlocking piece. The first surface defines a variable taper and a plurality of recesses. The brace secures the plurality of interlocking pieces to each other in a concentric arrangement about a central axis. A maximum width of each of the interlocking pieces is smaller than a minimum width of an end portion of the variable taper component. A central portion of the variable taper component is wider than the end portions.

A mold apparatus for molding a rotating member includes: a column mold portion including a first column molding hole extending in a first direction and configured to mold a column portion therein and a first blade molding groove formed as an intaglio on an inner circumferential surface of the first column molding hole to have a shape corresponding to a blade and configured to mold the blade therein, and an extraction guide configured to push a first end of the column portion in the first direction to thereby extract the column portion from the first column molding hole, at least a portion of the extraction guide being positioned inside the first column molding hole. The extraction guide is configured to press the column portion to thereby extract the column portion from the first column molding hole while the column portion rotates in an inclined direction of the blade.

Method of making an item and item

A mold is provided. First and second materials are introduced into respective first and second portions of the mold to create a first and second parts of the item. The first and second parts of the item are allowed to solidify. The mold is opened and a heating element is inserted into the mold. A section of each of the first and second parts of the item is heated to above their glass transition temperatures with the heating element. The heating element is removed from the mold. The mold is closed such that the sections of the first and second parts of the item come into contact with each other. The sections of the first and second parts are cooled to below their glass transition temperatures to become joined. The mold is opened such that the item can be removed from the mold.

Molding die and die-exchanging method

A molding die has a lower holder, an intermediate holder, an upper holder, a lock member, an upper link bar, a lower link bar, a restriction member, and a drive part. A movement of the lock member in a molding die opening direction or a molding die closing direction is restricted by the intermediate holder. The upper link bar has a first retaining groove in which the lock member fits when being located at a molding die closing position. The lower link bar has a second retaining groove in which the lock member fits and a release portion that enables the lock member to be released from the first retaining groove. The restriction member is movable between a restriction position that prevents the lock member from fitting in the second retaining groove and a free position that enables the lock member to fit in the second retaining groove.

INJECTION MOLDING MOLD OF IMPELLER AND INJECTION MOLDING METHOD OF IMPELLER

In an injection molding mold, a cavity to shape an impeller is formed on a cavity piece. The cavity piece includes an inner piece portion on which the cavity is formed, and a support piece portion turnably supporting the inner piece portion and movably mounted on a fixed-side mold. This cavity piece is moved to a first mold separating position together with a movable-side mold. The inner piece portion is formed such that a spiral pattern groove to shape a plurality of spiral pattern vanes of the impeller constitutes a part of the cavity. When the movable-side mold separates from the cavity piece at the first mold separating position, the impeller moves integrally with the movable-side mold and separates from the inner piece portion while turning the inner piece portion such that the vane slides and moves inside the spiral pattern groove of the inner piece portion.
